We are a charity organisation, providing recreational activities such as badminton, table tennis and snooker, as well as supporting cultural heritage activities, education and the arts. Set up in 1912, the Reading Room exists to provide recreational activities such as badminton, table tennis and snooker, as well as supporting cultural heritage activities, education and the arts. In recent years, w
e have run very successful monthly quiz nights, educational talks, regular coffee mornings, afternoon teas, visiting drama groups and even a couple of charity concerts. The charity is currently run by the Management Committee, Board of Trustees and supported by many volunteers and members. A great deal of support comes from our members. If you are interested in becoming a member, the annual cost is £5. This gives you voting rights at the AGM and free use of the sporting equipment. An additional £10 can be paid to be a member of the snooker club. If you wish to join the Romaldkirk Reading and Recreation Room, please either come along to coffee mornings on the first Saturday of each month or contact Kathryn Towler (01833 650601) for a membership form and any further details. The Room is available for hire and over the years these have included, funeral teas, christenings, birthday parties and even overnight camps. We have also had the occasional "foodie" event such as a Burns Night Supper or Wine and Cheese evenings. At present, the cost of the hire is £12 for members and £15 for non-members per hour. We would welcome invites from anyone to host an event and after the pandemic, would love to see it being used to its fullest! For further information about availability and costs, please contact Kathryn Towler (01833 650601). We will be updating this page with information about forthcoming events, celebrating the community spirit that we have and the renovations planned. If you have any queries or comments about issues outside of these, please send a direct, private message via this page. SITE RULES:
