Brighten Up Bloomfield. Community Spirit.

A big thankyou to all our followers for the level of response to Saturdays event. Our two face book pages Bloomfield Bangor and Bloomfield Voices have been lit up over the past couple of days with positive hits.

It was a pleasure to spend time with such a remarkable group of volunteers who certainly provided a lot of Community Spirit. All of these volunteers from around Bangor came carrying various tools in order to help with the clean up and despite adverse weather they put heart and soul into the work of litter picking, clearing w**ds and removing of rubbish.

We are aware that there are still existing problems throughout the estate regarding w**ds on the paths and we will do what we can to clear these paths. In order for us to help with clearance of the w**ds we will require volunteers.

We will try to arrange another date to tackle some of the areas we could not get to so if you would like to volunteer to help with this please let us know and we can set a suitable date.

Once again thank to everyone who took part on Saturday your hard work is very much appreciated.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in today’s Brighten Up Bloomfield community clean-up! 🌿💙

More than 30 volunteers from local churches joined forces with Bloomfield Community Association, Love Bangor and North Down Community Network to help make a positive difference in our community. From clearing w**ds and tidying pathways to removing dumped items, every helping hand played a part in making Bloomfield a little brighter.

Thanks also to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for providing a large skip to help with the removal stuff dumped in the area.

It’s amazing what can be achieved when people come together to show they care about where they live. Well done to all our fantastic volunteers – your time, effort and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated!

Estate Inspection Report Number 1.
A long discussion took place regarding the state of the footpaths in and around the estate. Two points stood out in this discussion, 1. Excessive w**ds covering the footpath. 2. Broken and loose pathing slab.
With regard to the w**d problem we are presently working in partnership with a new pilot scheme being organised by local churches to start removing treated w**ds.. A provisional date for 06th of June is being looked at to start the clearance of w**ds. Unfortunately this will not be a regular undertaking due to the reliance on volunteers. As residents you are invited to join us on the 6th of June to help clear the paths. Meet at the house at 10:30.
We are pleased to see that some action has been taken regarding the broken pathing slabs.
This happened yesterday and we were assured that the repair will be finished yesterday. See less

On Tuesday 12th May we held our annual estate inspection which was attended by the following agencies.
Bloomfield Community Association, North Down Community Network, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Councillors, PSNI, Representatives of MLA's, Choice Area Housing and representatives from, Lisnabreen Presbyterian Church, St Andrews Church, and Bangor Parish.
A big thank you to all these agencies for attending. Special thanks to North Down Community Network for the hard work they put in planning and contacting all the various agencies.
This year we used a different format for the estate inspection with a short 45 min walk around followed by a discussion on how to resolve issues which were raised.
Most of the issues raised came about from our surveys and we would like to thank all who took part in the surveys please continue to keep us up to date on any issues you feel need to be resolved.
Over the next week we will be posting about specific issues raised at the discussion and the outcome from the discussion.
We would like you to follow the updates and would welcome any comments you would have regarding the various issues.
