Beannachar is a Camphill Community situated in countryside on the edge of Aberdeen, two miles from the city centre. Beannachar is an independent Camphill Charity offering a therapeutic and supportive environment for 36 young adults between 18-33 years old with learning disabilities and additional support needs. Life at Beannachar supports young people to discover and strengthen their talents and p
otential as they transition into adulthood. All young people need opportunities to find themselves and find their place in the world, and people with learning disabilities are no different in this respect. But finding an environment and a support network that meets their needs can be difficult. Beannachar takes an integrated and holistic approach to supporting Students' learning for life and work. Some students live on site and benefit from the warm and support from house community life. All students attend the Day Service workshops for weaving, wool processing, woodwork, rug making, leatherwork, laundry and herb processing, and also land based workshops in the walled garden, farm, and estate.
