Adoption UK

Adoption UK To ensure our page is as useful and supportive as possible to the wide and diverse adoption community, we have set out some guidance.

Adoption UK is the leading charity for adopted and care experienced people, adoptive families, and others parenting children who can’t live with their birth parents. This guidance also informs how we moderate comments. We do not like hiding comments or blocking and will never do so without good reason and in line with these principles.
1. It is important that everyone feels welcome and safe here.

Please respect the views and experiences of others and be kind and courteous.
2. We welcome strong views, expressed respectfully. Adoption is complex and evolving and there is a broad range of experiences and opinions, as well as historical and national differences and it is important that everyone is valued and heard.
3. This is a good place to share information. It is important that information is accurate and not misleading and that it does not have the potential to cause distress to others.
4. We can and do accept criticism where this is fair, and we try our best to learn from our mistakes. We do not host unfair claims or abusive comments. If you have a complaint to make about our organisation, please refer to the Complaints Policy and Procedure on our website.

This month, we have:

✦ Researchers seeking adoptive parents to support research into children's difficulties with school attendance (Greater Manchester area)

✦ Adoptees and adopters and adoption professionals who would like to reflect on 100 years of adoption.

✦ The Children's Commissioner has launched 'The Big Future' survey for children across the UK.

✦ A PhD researcher would like to hear from adoption social workers in the UK on how race is navigated in adoption practice.

✦ Researchers at the University of Oxford are inviting adoptive parents in the UK to take part in a study exploring how adoptive parents’ identity as a parent might relate to their wellbeing, confidence and satisfaction with parenthood, and relationship with their child.

Please note this research is not being carried out by Adoption UK. Please check the details carefully before agreeing to take part.

📚We know that many adopted children face unique challenges at school, and having a teacher who truly understands can make all the difference.

🌟If there’s a teacher or member of school staff who has gone above and beyond this year, why not show your appreciation?

📧A simple gesture, like sending a free e-card on Thank a Teacher Day, can mean so much and let them know the impact they’ve had.

👉You can send an e-card for free here: https://ow.ly/cNfr50Z86bm
