Our conversations with prospective families focus on what truly matters to them and what they hope school will offer in terms of understanding, support and collaboration. This is where our Quality of Life (QoL) approach begins and it continues throughout a student’s time with us.

In the below article for Autism Eye Magazine, we discuss how a residential placement can further improve QoL outcomes for students and their families.

Would a residential school suit your autistic child? Swalcliffe Park School, a specialist residential and day provision for boys aged 10 to 19, weighs up this daunting question. Swalcliffe Park School

✨Recording at Woodworm Studios! ✨A unique studio with a long musical history... it was originally founded by Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention (who still record there!).

Across two days students performed and recorded a wide range of music, including GCSE coursework recordings. The studio owner commented on how polite and professional the boys were and how thoughtfully they performed together. It was great to see some students grow in confidence over the sessions... especially those who started off a little unsure but soon felt comfortable listening back to their recordings and taking pride in what they had achieved.

You can listen to the highlights in the compilation video 🎸🥁🎤

One of the key benefits of being a residential student is the opportunity to become more independent. From preparing simple meals in the house kitchen to heading out into the local community for evening and weekend activities... our students develop practical life skills in a supported, safe environment. These small steps build confidence and independence over time.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for Family Day today ✨

It was fantastic to see families engaging in sessions (particularly the 'Sensory Aspects of Eating' talk) and enjoying activities across the school... from biscuit decorating and browsing handmade Valentine's Day gifts to portfolio sharing and maths challenges!

A huge thank you as well to our catering team for a delicious Chinese New Year themed lunch... always a highlight!

We wish all our families a restful and enjoyable half term break.

Cookies, hot chocolate, marshmallows… and a big heart 💙

Last week, three of our students ran a cookies and hot chocolate sale in aid of Katharine House Hospice . Everything was homemade, card payments were accepted... and the result was a fantastic £118 raised!

An amazing effort – well done, boys 👏🍪☕
