💙 Wednesday Warmer 💙

Today David and Sara from B Positive flew to London where they had the opportunity to meet with Minister for Social Security and Disability, Sir Stephen Timms MP, alongside our fantastic supporter Carla Lockhart MP.

It was a really positive meeting where we spoke openly and frankly about the financial pressures families face from the moment a child is diagnosed with cancer. We highlighted the gaps that still exist, including parents who are going to miss out on support even under the new “paid leave” legislation.

At B Positive, we believe families should be able to focus on their child without the added worry of financial hardship, and we’ll continue to push for change until that becomes a reality.

A huge thank you to Minister Timms for taking the time to listen, and to Carla for her ongoing support and commitment to B Positive and the families we represent. 💙

On our way back to the station, we got a very welcome sign of encouragement from our Forever CEO 💙

💙 Wednesday Warmer 💙

Sometimes, in the midst of the hardest days, a message arrives that reminds us exactly why Adam started B Positive.

Recently, we received a beautiful message from Eoin’s mum, along with this precious photo of brave little Eoin snuggled up with his B Positive star pillow while receiving chemotherapy.

Eoin was diagnosed with an embryonal brain tumour, favouring medulloblastoma, shortly after his first birthday. Following a 10-hour surgery, two weeks in PICU, and a further two weeks on the ward, he has now begun his chemotherapy journey.

His mum shared how a B Positive suitcase, given to them on arrival to the ward, became “a port in the storm” amidst the chaos of those early weeks. Filled with practical essentials and a few comforting touches, it provided support when they needed it most.

She told us that Eoin was cuddled up beside his star pillow as his chemotherapy pump ran, and reflected on how fortunate families like hers are that Adam, during his own cancer journey, thought so deeply about helping the children and families who would come after him.

Messages like this are incredibly special to us. While we wish no family ever had to face childhood cancer, knowing that Adam’s legacy continues to bring comfort, support and hope to children like Eoin means more than words can express.

Tonight, we ask our B Positive family to keep Eoin, his parents, and all children currently receiving treatment in your thoughts. We know they have a long road ahead, but we also know they will never walk it alone.

Sending all our love and strength to Eoin and his family. 💙⭐
