Banbridge Silver Band Banbridge Silver Band is keen to promote itself as a community band.

They no longer are a marching band as they have been known in the past.The Band purely do concert work only now,including fetes, bandstands,charity and all denomination church services.

Recently the band were honoured to be asked to take part in the funeral service of our dear friend and colleague Patricia Dickson. Patricia was originally a member of Rathfriland Silver but as the two bands played together more and more over recent years she became an important part of our cornet section rarely missing rehearsals or engagements.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

As Patricia’s coffin left the church the band played Will your Anchor Hold in the storms of life.

It’s with deepest regret and shock we learnt of the sudden passing of our friend and colleague George McClean. George was for over 60 years an extremely dedicated member of the band serving on band committee during most of this time including stints as Secretary and Chairman until his retirement from banding at the end of 2024.

Our deepest condolences go to his children Helen, Ivan and Louise as well as George's grandchildren and the wider family circle.

George will be sorely missed by all of us in the band as well as all who knew him.

This morning the band attended the carol service at Banbridge Non Subscribing Presbyterian Church where we led the singing of carols. Thanks to the church members and Rev Moodie for the invitation. Thank you to Richard & Cyril for their help.

We will take a well deserved break and rehearsals and learners class will recommence in the new year.

December can mean only one thing. The start of the Christmas carolling season. This time the switch on of the Christmas light in Pineview in Gilford. The rain stopped as we arrived and a big crowd was present for the switch on of the lights and the arrival of Santa. Thanks to the residents for the invite and the refreshments.
