What a week it has been! ๐ŸŽ‰

We finished our Ulster-Scots Summer School in style today with our Highland Games Championships, our closing ceremony and, thanks to the help of our parents and guardians, a surprise water fight to round off an unforgettable week! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Our four clans battled it out in a fantastic display of teamwork, determination and fun:
๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ The Hairy Turnips of Inverurie (defending champions)
๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช The Crabit Chieftains of Doune
๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ The Bonny Thistles of Muckle
๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ช The Wee Neeps of Troun

A huge congratulations to Clan Leader Hannah and the Bonny Thistles of Muckle, who are crowned our 2026 Highland Games Champions! ๐Ÿ†

A heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible team of leaders, every parent and guardian, all of the children who threw themselves into every activity, and the Ulster-Scots Agency, whose continued support made this fantastic week possible.

This year we were delighted to welcome children from Knockahollet Primary School, Carrowreagh Primary School, Irish Society Primary School, Carnalridge Primary School and Lislagan Primary School.

No matter which school you attend, you'll always be part of . โค๏ธ

Thank you for making memories that will last a lifetime.

Same time next year! ๐Ÿ˜€

Today was packed full of Ulster-Scots culture and tradition, with the children enjoying Highland dancing, getting creative through arts and crafts, and having great fun learning about the mighty Lambeg drum and trying out a few beats for themselves.

It's been another jam packed day, with plenty of smiles, laughter and new experiences. We can't wait for our final day tomorrow as we finish the week in style with our Highland Games! ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽจ

Today we:
๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Made our own tartan Tam O'Shanters
๐Ÿ“š Worked through our Ulster-Scots Summer School busy books
๐Ÿšฒ Enjoyed trikes and bikes
๐Ÿ‰ Took part in touch rugby
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Learned how Ulster-Scots helped shape America
๐Ÿ  Built our own frontier houses
๐Ÿš€ Even built a few space rockets after learning that the first man to walk on the Moon was descended from Ulster-Scots settlers who emigrated to America from County Fermanagh.

Tomorrow we're looking forward to our exciting trip to the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, where we'll discover even more about this fascinating story.

We had a brilliant start to our five day Ulster-Scots Summer School today. A healthy balance of Ulster-Scots culture, heritage and identity mixed with sports and lots of fun. Keep an eye out for our highlights for the next week.
