Armed Forces Day will be marked in Northern Ireland on Saturday 20 June with a series of events taking place in Coleraine.

As an institution, we will also be remembering those who have served and continue to serve in the defence of our nation.

On Friday 19 June from 5:00-9:00pm an exhibition of World War and more recent militaria will take place in the Independent Orange Hall, Edward Street.

Saturday 20 June will see the annual Somme Commemoration take place in Ballymoney. Parade will leave Townhead Street carpark at 7:00pm led by Benvarden Flute Band. A short service of reflection and remembrance will take place at the town War Memorial. We welcome members of all loyal orders to join with us in this event.

STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE HORRIFIC AND BRUTAL MURDEROUS ATTACK IN NORTH BELFAST.

Imperial Grand Master Rt Wor Bro Phil Moffatt said “This brutal and vicious knife attack was nothing less than a cold-blooded attempt to murder on the streets of our capital City.

We viewed the footage with shock and horror as the victim lay helpless, just moments from death. We pay tribute to the intervention of nearby residents who came to the aid and assistance of the victim and took the law into their own hands. Had it not been for their courage and bravery then this could have been even more tragic. Consideration must be given to rewarding their action.”

“The open border policy which has been promoted by this Labour Government since it came to power, has given rise to these unwanted migrants who visit our shores without any respect for our people, our culture, our laws and our land.

We often discover that those committing such crimes have no legal status or right to be here. The Prime Minister can no longer defend the indefensible, it’s time to get real and deport those who willfully and knowingly break our laws”.

“As an Institution, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, now recovering in hospital and his family. I trust that the full weight of the law will quickly fall upon the one who orchestrated this barbaric attack.

All too often such revulsion gives rise not only to frustration but outrage within the community. We appeal for calm heads and great restraint upon our streets as we come to terms with what has developed in North Belfast. No act of violence can ever be justified as an acceptable response”.

At the recent meeting of County Antrim Grand Lodge, we recognised the service of our Past County Grand Master Wor Bro David Johnston by presenting him with his Past Master’s collarette and certificate.

David has been a great encouragement to the various private lodges under his jurisdiction during his term of office, being regularly in attendance at many functions and meetings.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

ILOI condemns the conviction of retired Pastor Clive Johnston.

Today’s verdict in Coleraine Magistrate’s Court is an attack on civil and religious liberty, of someone whose only crime was to peacefully preach from John 3:16 in public.

This judgment criminalises a person not for their actions but for their perceived beliefs, setting a dangerous legal precedent.

We call on Christians across denominations to unite in prayer, advocacy, and support for an appeal, warning that silence will lead to further erosion of religious freedom and freedom of speech.

We urge a review of how Safe Access Zones are enforced, a reaffirmation of citizens’ rights by public authorities, and continued defence of historic Protestant liberties, including public worship and gospel preaching.

Ballymoney District ILOL held its annual church service yesterday in Hebron Free Presbyterian Church.

Rev Park brought a challenging message from God’s Word found in Numbers 23:10. Balaam’s desire was to die as a righteous man which he ultimately did not. We must be sure that we have preparation in place that we do not follow in the same way that he did.

Many thanks to Benvarden Flute Band for leading the parade. Your music was very much enjoyed by us all.
