Yesterday, a number of Ballymena Community First Responders enjoyed a thoroughly deserved wellbeing day out in Belfast.

Our team spends countless hours supporting the community, responding to emergencies, and providing vital assistance when it is needed most. It was wonderful to take some time together away from the frontline, enjoy good company, share plenty of laughs, and focus on our own wellbeing.

Days like these are so important for strengthening friendships, supporting mental health, and recognising the incredible commitment shown by our volunteers throughout the year.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success and to all our responders for the dedication, compassion, and professionalism they bring to the role every single day.

Thank you to all our volunteers.

Thank you to all our volunteers.

As National Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, we’d like to thank all 458 of our Community First Responders across 25 schemes throughout Northern Ireland. Together, they give thousands of hours each year to support their communities, respond to emergencies, promote lifesaving skills and help us improve outcomes for patients. We are proud to work alongside such a dedicated group of volunteers.

Thank you to Northern Ireland Ambulance Service for acknowledging the dedication of our team and that of the many others across the province.

Behind every Community First Responder is a volunteer who has chosen to give something incredibly valuable…their time. From treating patients experiencing cardiac arrest and other time-critical medical emergencies, to providing reassurance, support and care in difficult moments, CFRs help make a real difference when every second counts. Today, we recognise and thank all our CFR volunteers for their dedication and compassion.

🚑 Great News for Ballymena! 🚑
We’re delighted to announce that three new volunteer responders have successfully completed their training with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and are now actively responding to Category 1 and Category 2 emergency calls across the greater Ballymena area 💙
This is a huge boost for our scheme, helping us reach patients, more quickly, especially in those critical first moments when every second counts.
Our new responders, Ryan, Nicole and Stephen, are already making a real difference, providing lifesaving care and support to patients before ambulance crews arrive.
👏 A massive congratulations and thank you to all three for your dedication and commitment to serving your community.
As we continue to grow, we’re always looking for more volunteers to join the team, if you’ve ever thought about becoming a Community First Responder, now is the time to get involved!
💙 Together, we’re saving lives in Ballymena.

When someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, survival chances drop by 10% for every minute without defibrillation. 😨

But with immediate CPR and a shock from an AED within 3–5 minutes, survival rates can reach up to 70%! 💥🫀

That’s why having a defibrillator nearby - and knowing how to use it - is vital. 🚑

🙋‍ Does your workplace, school, club or community space have an AED?
📦 Is it visible, registered, and in full working order?
👥 Have your team had training recently?

💬 At MKB Medical, we provide equipment, training, and guidance to help you save lives across Northern Ireland.

📲 Get in touch today - because in a real emergency, there’s no time to waste.
