On the evening of Friday 20th February, our Worthy Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary & Assistant Secretary attended the 75th Anniversary Installation Of Officers of our member Club, Dunloy Walker, in Dunloy Orange Hall.

The Worthy Governor, Lieutenant Governor & General Secretary were also in attendance along with Officers & Brethren of the Walker Parent Club and Officers of Coleraine & District Amalgamated Committee. There was a large number of Branch Clubs from across the north Antrim area represented along with Brethren from Caldercruix Walker Club in Scotland.

The Installation was conducted by the Walker Parent Club. Dunloy's outgoing Worthy President, Bro. Mervyn Davidson(also our Amalgamated Committee Chaplain)was presented with his Past President's certificate having served 13 years in the chair, whilst Worthy Governor Bro. Walker recited one of his poems before presenting a framed copy of the same to the Club. A set of beautiful new Officers sashes were also dedicated. A number of other presentations were also made and recieved. Following the meeting, all in attendance enjoyed a delicious supper with some traditional musical accompaniment from Dunloy Accordion Band.

In spite of decades of Republican aggression and the curtailment of right to assembly the crimson banner continues to fly defiantly in Dunloy! We wish the newly installed and reinstalled Officers the very best for 2026.

A Reflection On 2025

2025 has been a special albeit busy year for Ballymena & District Amalgamated Committee. We have commenced our 70th Anniversary celebrations, which will be continuing into April 2026. There are a couple of other events planned for early next year so watch this space. Many of our Member Clubs have increased their membership over the past year which is indicative of the appeal and popularity of the Apprentice Boys Association within the Loyal Orders. We also gained Larne Walker Club as our newest Member Club, bringing our Amalgamated Committee membership to a total of 22 Branch Clubs.

In April this year, we held our 70th Anniversary quarterly meeting in the Club Room of the Apprentice Boys' Memorial Hall, at which our new Amalgamated District Standard was dedicated. We are believed to be the first Amalgamated Committee to hold our meeting within the Walls of the Maiden City. In August, we held our 70th anniversary Divine Service in the Braidwater Hall, a hub for Loyalist traditions and heritage in Ballymena. This was attended by several dignitaries from Londonderry including the Worthy Governor, Lieutenant Governor and two Past Governors.

September saw us bring the jewel in our crown to the streets of Ballymena, the Annual Ulster Covenant Festival, a week-long event which now includes a political hustings event, historical lecture & Lambeg Drumming Match, culminating in a traditional parade around Ballymena town.

In October, we were represented in Blackpool at the English Amalgamated Committee's Annual Parade and Election Of Officers, at which a slate was presented to their Worthy Chairman from Ballymena & District. Finally, only a few weeks ago we hosted an extremely successful 70th Anniversary Dinner in the Braidwater Hall, which culminated in the burning of a Lundy effigy to celebrate the 337th Anniversary of the Shutting Of The Gates.

None of this could have been achieved without the ingenuity and support of our Officers and Member Clubs, and we look forward to joining with you all in 2026!

NO SURRENDER!
