CFC U13s vs Bangor
After a brilliant victory last week CFC went into their game against Bangor full of confidence, they wasted no time taking the lead with Cooper finding Armstrong who took it round the goalkeeper and finished calmly to make it 1-0 within the first minute

With the wind against them Bangor took control of the game and despite a superb goal line clearance from Green and some super goalkeeping from Thallon, Bangor found there equaliser before half time.

In the second half there were promising moments from CFC but nothing clear cut. With Bangor having the majority of possession but couldn’t get passed a solid CFC defence. Bonnes impressed for CFC with a top class midfield performance. Green at the back also showed class with a number of important blocks and clearances

Then as the game seemed destined for a 1-1 draw, Kirk got passed the Bangor back line and was then fouled just outside the Bangor box. Up stepped Cooper to take the free kick, the original shot blocked which came back out to him which he then struck on the volley off the crossbar and in to win CFC the game with the last kick.

A wonderful performance showing real fight and determination on a tough day

Saturday Morning at loughside 4G saw the U10 Athletic team take on another competitive game of the new season. The first half saw CFC start the game with great intensity and some great passages of play. CFC continued to put pressure on the other team getting six goals from the opportunities and the hard work every player put in. CFC went in at the break 6 up. The second half saw the other team apply a bit of pressure of their own and a mistake in our defence saw them get a goal of their own of their own. After the goal CFC continued to work hard and picked up two more goals for their hard work. A few changes in shape and position for CFC saw then push on in the game and pick up a further 6 goals. Every player deserves a well done as everyone gave it their all. Every player giving a player of the match performance. Well done to McCullough on picking up a hat-rick and well done to our player of the match Campbell on picking up a double hat-rick

On a cold friday evening the u12 academy team took on a strong woodvale side. CFC started strong with some great passages of play. Woodvale started to create their own chances and eventually broke the deadlock with a great strike.

CFC struck back almost immediately with a great goal by millar to make it even at the break.Woodvale started strong in the second half which lead to them taking the lead. Both teams continued to make chances but it was a brilliantly taking free kick by Barry to make it all square. Mckay made some great saves to make it finish all square in the end. Two great team performances.

Match Report SBYL

CFC Academy vs Portadown FC

Kicking off at the Dub both teams started brightly, Portadown opened the scoring to take an early lead. CFC responded well with Kirk having lots of the ball down the right hand side. CFC levelled through Kirk who pounced on a rebound from Houston’s saved effort with a very composed finish. CFC’s second followed soon after with a mirror of their first this time it was Houston who finished the rebound from Kirk’s parried shot. CFC kept the pressure on and won a free kick 25yards out Kirk stepped up with a wonder-strike to put it beyond the Portadown keeper and his second of the game. CFC finished the half strongly with a goal from Beggs whose persistence paid off with a good finish.

As the second half kicked off Portadown found their rhythm and started committing bodies forward and their efforts paid off as they got a goal back closely followed by another. With momentum on the Ports side CFC put in a strong defensive performance with McCullough, Fotheringham and Adams all doing their bit. Miller pulled off some fantastic saves to keep Portadown from finding an equaliser. With a frantic finish to the game CFC found a fifth to put the game out of reach with Beggs driving forward on the counter attack and finishing well. First win of the season well deserved.

Match report:

CFC travelled down to the Valley leisure centre to play against Celtic Boys this Saturday morning.

The away side started strongest in the first half with Rea being called into action and the CFC defence being pressured straight away.

The athletic side struggled to get out of their own half. With the wind in their face it played a huge part in the momentum of the away side.

Celtic boys took the lead and went into the half 1-0 up. But the second half was a different story with CFC given most of the momentum in the game.

CFC eventually got their reply when a corner was whipped into the box. Black attempted an outrageous bicycle kick which hit off the post and dropped onto the line for Courtney who tapped it in to make it 1-1.

And it was CFC who claimed the winner through another set piece, Brown hit a free kick which was completely redirected by a defender into the box. Smyth was there to knock it past the keeper to win the game for the Athletic side

A fantastic result as CFC begin their league campaign with a win. A special mention to Williamson who had a solid performance at the back.

CFC Athletic U12 v St Patrick’s U12 | Mallusk

CFC faced a strong St Patrick’s side at Mallusk, who started brightly and put our defence under pressure. CFC defended well, with Harris doing an excellent job at right back, breaking up a number of attacks. However, St Patrick’s found the net several times before half-time.

CFC started the second half much better, but St Patrick’s scored again. Havelin produced an outstanding save, tipping the ball onto the post to keep the score down. A clever free kick from Beggs then set CFC away on the attack, but we couldn’t make the most of the opportunity.

St Patrick’s added a couple more goals, but CFC continued to battle and never gave up. Following great work from Gilchrist, McIvor finished well to score her first goal for CFC Athletic, capping off an excellent performance.

Despite a difficult start to the season, the team continues to show a great attitude, working hard and not giving up.

Well done to St Patrick’s, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season!

The U14 took on 18th Newtonabbey this morning at Mallusk.
CFC started sharply as Green latched onto a ball over the top before being brought down in the box. He stepped up to the spot and cooly finished into the corner. 18th Newtonabbey had a few chances in the first half but the CFC defence stood strong with Hulpea standing out for his defensive effort and confidence in getting CFC on the ball and up the pitch. A flurry of 3 goals in 5 minutes from McNeil, Feeney and Green again put CFC in a strong position going into the break.
The second half saw less changes for both teams but CFC eventually found another when McNeil's corner was met by McCullough in the box. 18th Newtonabbey did get a goal with a great finish high into the net but it was too late to amount to a comeback.

Blythefield 3G in Belfast was the scene for an impressive team performance from U11 Academy on Friday evening. Dungoyne FC were our opponents this week and worked tirelessly but the boys in white continued a fantastic run of early results to claim another win.

The scoring was kicked off from McDonald who later claimed a hattrick. Greer bagged a second for CFC with great work in the middle of the park. Dungoyne pulled one back but CFC extended their lead with two further goals before half time.

CFC piled on the pressure in the second half with some excellent passages of play, with the boys combining well to give the spectators plenty to cheer about. Despite also hitting the wood work several times CFC claimed three more goals, taking it to seven with Frew, Wasson and McDonald getting on the scoresheet. A fine display from CFC, every single player working their socks off and looking like a team working hard for each another.

Thanks and the best to Dungoyne FC players and coaches for the rest of your season.

Bangor Swifts FC vs CFC Academy U15

The U15's got their first taste of Friday night football for this League campaign as they travelled to Avoneil Leisure Centre to take on Bangor Swifts. The boys were right up for the game from the start and were coming out on top for large parts of the first half. CFC had the better chances and finally made the break through when Surgenor got his 1st of the game, finishing well after a good low cross into the box.

HT: Bangor Swift 0 - 1 CFC

For the 2nd game in a row the boys managed to up their levels after half time and the midfield worked hard to create some really good chances through Kirk, Morrow, O'Donnell and Evans but it was quick thinking from left back Houston to create a chance for Surgenor, from a throw in, to score his second goal. The third goal was the pick of the bunch when Kirk hit a well struck effort from all of 40 yards that went in off the cross bar, leaving the keeper stranded. There was still time for Chalkley to get his name on the score sheet when he was put through to finish well into the net. Everyone put in 100% effort, keeping another clean sheet and they can enjoy a well earned Saturday off now!
MOTM: Surgenor
