💬 "Small charities are part of the fabric of our communities. Every day we see the difference that local, trusted support can make to people's lives."

This Small Charity Week, we're reflecting on what that really looks like in Bacup and beyond, from our Thursday Lunch Club bringing people together, to the wider work we do to help communities stand tall.

Small charities like ours are rooted in the places we serve. That's our strength. 💪 Visit us at communityasset.org

🍽️ One of the things we're most proud of? Our Thursday Lunch Club in Bacup.

Every week, our TLC brings people together over a hot meal — tackling isolation, building friendships, and creating a space where everyone belongs. It's a small thing that makes a huge difference.
This is what Small Charity Week is all about: recognising the quiet, consistent work that holds communities together. 💛

🌟 It's Small Charity Week!

This week, we're joining charities across the UK to celebrate the big impact small charities have in our communities.

At Community Assets Standing Tall, we believe that strong communities are built from the ground up by local people, for local people. Every day, we see the difference that trusted, local support makes to real lives across our area.

This year's theme says it all: Small charities. Big impact.

At Thursday Lunch Club today we had an afternoon tea and birthday quiz with spot prizes for some questions. Totally forgot to take photos⁉️
We all had a lovely afternoon and the wonderful lot bought me some gorgeous flowers.
TLC and the amazing staff and volunteers are such a blessing.

A huge thank you to John Lewis & Partners, Herbert Parkinson, Darwen, Mike Davies, Julie Moran and Sarah Riley in particular, for their incredibly generous donation of a Blu-ray/DVD player to our Thursday Lunch Club! 🎬❤️

This thoughtful gift means so much to the people we support.

Every Thursday in Bacup, we bring together people who may be facing isolation or living with dementia, offering a safe, welcoming space where connection and community truly matter.

Now, thanks to John Lewis & Partners, we can add movie afternoons to the meaningful activities we offer — creating moments of joy, laughter and shared experience that genuinely improve well-being.

We are so grateful for this act of kindness. It's wonderful when local businesses and their people show up for their community in such a practical and heartfelt way. 🙏
