Unit Update/Announcement
Unfortunately, last week we had to say "see you later" and a huge thank you to our XO, S/Lt Forsyth, as he moves on to a new job which has taken him all the way to Qatar!
It is very much a bitter-sweet moment for us. We are incredibly excited for S/Lt Forsyth and what the future holds for him in a new country, but it does mean that after more than 8 years with us, he now needs to step away from the unit.
It is difficult to overstate just how much of a loss this is for TS Mountbatten. S/Lt Forsyth has been a huge, and at times unseen force behind getting this unit to where it is today. He has taken on countless critical jobs in the background from building works and repairing boats, to fixing vehicles, building relationships within the community, driving thousands of miles to collect equipment, replying to tens of thousands of WhatsApp messages from the CO, and of course helping deliver the Sea Cadet Experience to our cadets.
A huge amount of what we have achieved over the last few years simply would not have happened without his time, effort and willingness to just get stuck in and make things happen. He has been a cornerstone of the unit, and his contribution has been absolutely massive.
He will be very, very sadly missed by us all.
Hopefully this isn't goodbye, but simply see you later! We wish S/Lt Forsyth all the very best for this next chapter in Qatar, and hopefully it won't be too long before we see him back at TS Mountbatten!
