The charity raffle at the 2026 Ayrshire Business Awards raised a fantastic amount and South Ayrshire Community Transport (SACT) received the magnificent amount of £1907.50. SACT where very surprised and grateful for the amount raised. A big thanks to Ayrshire Camber of Commerce and to the many local businesses whose generous prize donations made it all possible.

🚌 Big news for travellers in the west of Scotland!
Bus fares across the SPT region (including the CB8 Girvan to Barr Service) are now capped at a maximum of £2 for a single journey! Whether you are commuting to work, heading to college, or popping to the shops, you can get there for less.
💳 How to pay: Just buy your single ticket on board the bus using cash or contactless.
ℹ️ Note: Pre-existing fares below £2 stay at their lower price. Concession cardholders still travel free.

£2 Bus Fare Gap- CB8 Girvan to Barr Service.

As part of the Scottish Government’s Bus Fare Cap the Single Fare will be £2 on the CB8 Girvan to Barr Service. Information the timetable can be found at https://www.sacommunitytransport.org/cb8-girvan-to-barr-scheduled-service/

About 30 km of tracks and paths have been joined together to create varied trails through the beautiful countryside near the village of Barr. All trails start and finish at the Barr Trails car park. Information can be found at https://www.southayrshirepaths.org/walking/barr-trails

Barr Community Shop and Café is a community-owned enterprise which offers a good range of staples (bread, fruit, vegetables, dairy), fresh cakes, post office services, off-licence and hot and cold food takeaway. It also sells arts & crafts by local craftspeople. There is a small café with WiFi where you can enjoy a tea/coffee with freshly made cake or a hot or cold roll.

The new extended Stinchar Connections Timetable goes live on Tuesday 1 September. The timetable can be accessed at: https://www.sacommunitytransport.org/stinchar-valley-ct/

The new timetable provides information on the extensions in services, which includes stops at Girvan Hospital, Train Station and ASDA as well as services to Barrhill Station. There is also information on links with other transport provision and local services.

The Thursday Morning service will be extended into the Hospital and return form the Hospital at 11;35 via Ballantrae at 11;58. More information can be obtained at [email protected] or at [email protected] or by phoning SACT 01292 27084.

Stinchar Connection
Due to the closure of Main Street Colmonell, Colmonell from Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August, the Stinchar Connection service to Ballantrae will be cancelled on Tuesday 25 August and Thursday 27 August.
