Ayrshire Hospice

Ayrshire Hospice We help people to live as actively as they can to the end of their lives - however long that may be, where ever that may be.

The Ayrshire Hospice provides exceptional specialist palliative and end of life care to people affected by life-shortening illness throughout Ayrshire and Arran. Largely dependent on voluntary donations, Ayrshire Hospice provides care where there is no cure for a condition: care which improves the quality of each day for people who have a limited time to live. We provide care in a number of places

including people’s own homes, hospitals and care homes as well as in our purpose built day care and in-patient units. The care we provide is at no cost to the patient. However, it does require extensive, on-going fundraising support. It costs £7.4million per year to run all of our hospice services, that’s over £20,000 per day. Of this £7.4million, we need to raise £4.3million every year through voluntary donations.

📣 Save the Date! 📣

This year, our Make a Will Fortnight will be taking place between 19th October and 2nd November.

During this time, trusted, local solicitors will kindly waive their fees and make or update your Will in exchange for a donation to the Ayrshire Hospice.

By taking part in our Make a Will Fortnight, you're not only preparing for the future, but also helping to support end-of-life care in Ayrshire and Arran. Your participation can make a real difference, helping local families access the care, support and resources they need now and in the future. 💜

We are looking forward to sharing our fantastic participating solicitors soon - keep an eye out for updates! 👀

Music filled our In-Patient Unit recently as we welcomed accordionist Ian Muir for a very special visit 🪗

Ian's visit was arranged especially for one of our patients, Alex, who is an accordionist himself with his own band, to help lift his spirits

They were also joined by other patients, visitors, and some our IPU team who were all drawn in by the incredible music 🎵

Thank you Ian for such a joyful morning 💜

One year at home 💜

Today marks one year since we officially opened the doors to our transformed home at Racecourse Road in Ayr.

On 18 August 2025, following the completion of our Capital Build Project, we were able to welcome the wider community of Ayrshire and Arran into our new and transformed facilities for the very first time.

While our In-Patient Unit had already welcomed patients back in July, this was the day our whole building truly came to life – with the opening of Gargowan Café, Gargowan Gifts and the Magnolia Room (our beautiful contemplation space), alongside the many welcoming areas created for patients, families, visitors and our community.

One year on, our Racecourse Road home is so much more than a building. It is the heart of Ayrshire Hospice and a base from which our teams deliver exceptional care and support to people in their own homes and communities right across Ayrshire and Arran.

This once-in-a-generation transformation of our home could not have happened without the incredible support of our community. To everyone who donated, fundraised, volunteered, supported and believed in the project – thank you. 💜

The people of Ayrshire and Arran deserve the very best palliative and end-of-life care, in surroundings that reflect the compassion, dignity and warmth at the heart of everything we do. We are incredibly proud that our home at Racecourse Road helps us provide just that.

To mark our first anniversary, take another look around our home with us… 🎥🏡

Thank you to our incredible community who continue to support and fundraise for the Ayrshire Hospice 💜

🏡 Taylor Wimpey donated £700, which represents a portion of every house sold so far at Lairds Gardens in Kilmarnock. We are so grateful that they chose to continue to support us with this kind incentive

🍫 Callie wanted to raise as much as possible for charity and kindly chose to support the Hospice by creating her very own Brownie Stand. She made the clever decision to only sell her favourite sweet treat on the stall, and her brownies were so yummy that she raised an amazing £168.10

Every contribution helps us to provide care and support to people across Ayrshire and Arran when they need it most. Find out how you can get involved 👉 https://bit.ly/4w4mG5m
