Meet ‘Team Bear’ – Yvonne Taylor, Illustrator of Midge 🧸
“He (Midge) was the most opposite looking bear to the teddy I’d loved and lost, as a child. My bear was white and made from sheepskin, and being small, he fitted perfectly into a pocket. My younger sister took him out for a walk and sadly lost him. I always hoped that I’d find him or that he was adopted by another family, a bit like the lost bear in ‘A Bear Called AH!’.
When I started the painting, as Midge was owned by a boy who loved fishing, I drew the fishing fly box that my son used when he was wee. He loved tying flies most of all. It was an absolute joy to paint this bear, and I’m delighted that it is going to support the Ayrshire Hospice.”
