With this week being Mental Health Awareness Week, weโve been reflecting on just how important creative spaces can be. ๐จ๐
Our classes are about so much more than learning to paint and draw. They offer a calm, supportive environment where children and adults can slow down, switch off from everyday pressures and enjoy the process of creating something for themselves. ๐ซถ
A few simple creative habits can make a real difference when it comes to looking after your mental health,
๐ Keep a sketchbook โ not for โgoodโ drawings, just a space to doodle, colour or get thoughts out onto paper.
๐ Paint without pressure โ focus on the process, not the finished result.
๐ Spend 10 quiet minutes creating โ even a short break can help calm a busy mind.
๐ Use calming materials โ watercolours, pastels or colouring can feel especially soothing and mindful.
๐ Create from nature โ flowers, trees, skies and seasons can help you slow down and notice the world around you.
๐ Join a class or creative group โ art alongside others can reduce feelings of isolation and build connection.
๐ Try repetitive creative tasks โ patterns, shading and blending can be very grounding.
๐ Display your artwork โ seeing something youโve created can give a quiet sense of achievement and self-belief.
๐ Create regularly, not perfectly โ consistency matters more than skill.
Art doesnโt have to be complicated to be helpful. Sometimes simply sitting down with a pencil and just drawing is enough.
