Twenty- two Ayr Inner Wheel Club members enjoyed a lovely evening at St. Nicholas Golf Club, Prestwick. They were there for their annual Charter Dinner. The service, the food and the company were excellent and all enjoyed in the lovely surroundings with a picturesque view of Arran in the sun.

At our last meeting of the 2025-26 session we were delighted to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE. Sheriff McDonald gave us an interesting and entertaining talk about her work as Sheriff and also as the Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, the first woman to hold this position. The talk was full of stories of Sheriff McDonald's own experiences some of which were very amusing. We all enjoyed the talk very much and thank Sheriff McDonald for taking the time to come to our meeting.

Four Ayr Inner Wheel Members enjoyed a walk this afternoon around Rozelle Park. The park was looking glorious with rhododendrons and honeysuckle still in bloom. The walk had an extra challenge in that a map was used to follow a pre- arranged course. All 10 control points on the course were successfully located by the group and some basic map reading skills learnt by all. On completion of the walk a cup of tea/coffee was enjoyed while sitting outside at the back of the café.

A good turn out from Ayr ladies at the Inner Wheel District 2 Rally, today in the Radstone Hotel, Shawsburn, Larkhall. The glorious weather was enjoyed by everyone.

Welcome to Ayrshire Parkinson's Support Group who came to our May meeting to talk to us about the important work they do in the area. We were also pleased to present them with a cheque with funds collected on their behalf at our Coffee Morning held in February.

Today, the last day of April, the Ayr IW walking group thoroughly enjoyed a scenic woodland walk along the banks of the River Ayr. Beginning from Holmston Road the group walked in the sunshine towards the A77 then they looped back to return along the other side of the river. The group finished with a well deserved cuppa at Dobbies.

Ayr Inner Wheel Members joined Rotary and Ayrshire Coastal Path volunteers on the annual beach clean today. This year 6 beaches were targeted. Mhairi, Linda, Ruth and Birgit formed the team covering North Turnberry beach. Helped by Roddy and Storm (the collie) they made a successful clean sweep picking up and bagging at least 10 bags of rubbish. Larger items were gathered for pick up later by the organisers. A perfect morning, good company, chat and work that made a difference all carried out in a wonderful location in the sun....perfect .... and on another positive note the group thought the beach seemed cleaner this year so there must be other people making efforts at other times to keep our beaches clean.

This year the ladies of the Inner Wheel Club of Ayr have collected 37g of foreign stamps and 265g of UK stamps to send to the RNIB. Well done ladies. 👏👏👏👏

We were very privileged today to be given a presentation by our own member Beryl about her travels in India along with her husband, Alan. We all thoroughly hearing about her adventures.
