Trustee – Aylesham & Snowdown Social Welfare Scheme
Voluntary Position
Local Community Charity
Aylesham & Snowdown
About Us
The Aylesham & Snowdown Social Welfare Scheme exists to support the wellbeing, cohesion, and development of our local community. We manage and protect community assets, support local groups and activities, and ensure that the Scheme continues to serve residents now and for generations to come.
We are seeking new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the future of this important community organisation.
Role Overview
As a Trustee, you will be part of a small, committed Board responsible for the governance, strategic direction, and financial stewardship of the Scheme. You will help ensure that our facilities, resources, and activities are managed effectively and in line with our charitable objectives.
This is a rewarding opportunity for anyone who cares about Aylesham, Snowdown, and the wider parish, and who wants to play an active role in shaping its community life.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the strategic leadership and long‑term planning of the Scheme
• Ensure the Scheme complies with its governing document, charity law, and relevant regulations
• Oversee the effective management of community assets and facilities
• Review financial information and ensure funds are used responsibly and transparently
• Support decision‑making on community projects, grants, and local initiatives
• Attend regular Trustee meetings (typically monthly)
• Act as an ambassador for the Scheme within the community
What We’re Looking For
You do not need previous trustee experience—just commitment, integrity, and a genuine interest in community welfare. We welcome applications from people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill sets.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience or interest in:
• Community development
• Finance or budgeting
• Property, facilities, or asset management
• Governance or compliance
• Fundraising or grant applications
• Communications, engagement, or event planning
But enthusiasm and reliability are just as valuable.
Time Commitment
• Attendance at scheduled Trustee meetings
• Occasional involvement in project work or community events
• Approximately 2–4 hours per month, depending on activity levels
What You’ll Gain
• A meaningful role supporting the wellbeing of your local community
• Experience in charity governance and strategic decision‑making
• The chance to influence how local facilities and resources are managed
• Opportunities to develop new skills and work with a supportive team
