Rotary Club of Wendover and District

Rotary Club of Wendover and District Wendover Rotary has a fresh outlook and a more relaxed attitude. As Rotarians we are part of the largest service organisation in the world.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Wendover and District. The Rotary Club of Wendover and District meets in person twice a month on Wednesdays at the Chandos Arms in Weston Turville, we enjoy a meal together whilst supporting a great local pub. We also meet virtually on Zoom twice a month, again on Wednesdays. The days of middle aged men in suits meeting for long Rotary lunches or dinners each week are

past. The Rotary Club of Wendover and District is a young club – we held our Charter Dinner on 30th June 2009 – with dynamic members of whom 60% are women. We raise money for local, national and international projects and the best news is that when cakes are needed the women are never asked ‘to whip up a little sponge’; quite the reverse, our professional cake making man fires up the oven! Our varied meetings hopefully meet all our members’ needs whether it is business networking or being part of a team of like minded people who give up their time and skills to help others. ‘Service before Self’ is the motto of Rotary and if you’d like to know more of our projects have a look at our website at www.wendoverrotary.org.uk

Wendover and District is in a lovely scenic part of the country and the town of Wendover itself is situated in the Metropolitan Green Belt and Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lying at the foot of the Chilterns - a well known tourist area. So if you are a visiting Rotarian or a local who may be interested in joining our merry band we’d be delighted to see you at one of our meetings. Just use the ‘Contact us’ button at the top of our web page or drop in for one of our meetings.

On Saturday morning as part of the Great British Spring Clean, Rotarians from Wendover and district along with helpers from the Wendover Society and local residents spent a couple of hours picking up litter along the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal.

We managed to collect some rubbish but we were pleasantly surprised with how little there was to collect. It was a beautiful Spring morning and many people were enjoying the day and thanked us for helping to keep the area clean and tidy.

Today is the 1st day of “The Great British Spring Clean”, and in a little over 2 weeks we will be joining in with a litter pick along the canal towpath in Wendover.

If you would like to join us, please do get in touch. We are planning to start at 10am on Saturday 28th March and to be out for a couple of hours.

We will also be joined by volunteers from the Wendover Society who have been doing a great job of keeping Wendover tidy over these last few months.

Let’s keep Wendover beautiful!

These wonderful purple waves of crocus at Ashbrook Recreation Ground in Wendover are so vibrant.

We’ve been showcasing many crocus displays in our area this week, as part of our campaign to raise awareness of the Rotary fight for a Polio free world,

Look out for more displays of purple crocus as you walk your dog, or go for a stroll.

Rotary is leading the fight to eradicate Polio across the world, there are now just two countries where Polio is still classed as endemic: Pakistan and Afganistan.

Over the next few days we’ll be sharing some wonderful photos of crocuses in bloom that have been planted by members of Wendover Rotary. We just love to see them thriving especially in this glorious spring sunshine ☀️

*Santa Sleigh Update Tuesday 9th December*

This evening Santa and his helpers were hoping to visit Aylesbury Road from Castle Park Road to Halton Lane including the roads in between. Unfortunately we have had to cancel this evening as we do not have sufficient volunteers to go out.

If you are able to help us (and Santa) out for even just one night (week nights only) between now and the 19th December then please get in touch. Email Cheryl [email protected], pop into J Brown Funeral Directors and speak to Ana or message us on here.

This is wonderful news!

This is wonderful news!

We are thrilled to announce that after six long years our festive Disney trip is back and we have secured funding for 12 families to experience a magical 3 day break at Disneyland Paris this week. All families have a young person suffering from and deserve this much needed break. The children have been referred from Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity. We are so grateful to our generous donors for making this dream a reality and to for welcoming us back. We hope to update on the excitement soon!
