We held the last session of our Nostalgia Club last Thursday morning at Axminster Library.

These sessions have been part of our oral history project, 'Axminster at War, 1939-1945, Uncovering the Untold.'

We would like to thank Saltwater Narratives for their work on this project and Axminster Library for collaborating with us on these sessions.

We are very sorry to announce this, but due to a lack of ticket sales we have been left with no choice but to cancel our upcoming Portsmouth Coach Trip on Wednesday 20th May. We realise that one of the reasons ticket sales have been so low is because of the cost - not just our fee for the coach, but the cost of entrance into the dockyards.

We completely understand that in today's climate this is a lot of money to pay out for a venue but in defence of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard it is an incredible venue with lots to see and do - probably too much for one day so if you do ever have the opportunity to visit them in the future we highly recommend it.

Less than a week left to get your tickets for our Portsmouth Coach Trip on Wednesday 20th May.

Tickets £30 each (coach only).

Sadly at this stage, although we've sold a few more since our previous Facebook post, if we don't manage to sell more before Friday 24th April we may need to cancel the trip.

Please share this post widely and help make this trip possible.

NOTE: Do not purchase your dockyard entrance tickets (purchased separately from your coach ticket from us) until after next week when we have confirmed the trip is going ahead as they do not issue refunds.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Ticket sales for the Portsmouth Coach Trip are selling slower than anticipated. Although we never expect to make a profit on our trips, as a charity, we also cannot afford to make a loss.

Sadly, if we don't sell more tickets in the next 2 weeks we will be forced to cancel this trip. We are therefore encouraging anyone who is interested in going on this trip to reserve their tickets now. Payment can then be made anytime before Wednesday 13th May.

Tickets are for the coach only, so you will need to purchase your Portsmouth Historic Dockyard tickets separately if you plan on visiting the dockyard. PLEASE DO NOT pay for entry to the dockyard UNTIL we have confirmed the trip will definitely be going ahead.

This year we are running four coach trips - which like our other events, are activities we put on for the local community. Our aim is simple - to provide affordable, interesting and accessible events for Axminster and its surrounding towns and villages. As a charity it is not profits - but purpose that drives us on. As long as we can cover our costs and make enough to continue the valuable work we do here at the heritage centre we are happy.

Our next coach trip is on Wednesday 20th May to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. We chose this venue because 2026 is the year Portsmouth celebrates its 100 year anniversary of becoming a city. is a year-long celebration of the city’s heritage.

Tickets for this trip have been selling slowly. We are aware that many individuals wait until nearer the time to purchase their tickets, but could we please request that if you are interested you reserve your tickets with us in advance. For each trip we run we have a break even point where we cover the cost of hiring the coach. If we do not reach this point we have no choice but to cancel a trip. We are committed to supporting our local community but as a charity that receives no financial funding we cannot afford to run at a loss.

So, if you would like to join us at Portsmouth please pop into the heritage centre, phone up or drop us an email to reserve your ticket. Our £30 price is for the coach only, so you will need to book your tickets for the Dockyards separately. We recommend, however, that you do not book your ticket with the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard until we confirm this coach trip is going ahead.
