Are you coming to the Axminster Model Railway Exhibition tomorrow?

The day promises to be a fantastic one. We’ve absolutely loved hosting the exhibition at Axminster Station over the last two years, but it has grown so much that it has now outgrown the station and moved this year to The Axminster Guildhall a brilliant sign of its success!

The exhibition has taken over the whole building, with layouts, traders and exhibitors in the car park, foyer, main hall, on the stage, and upstairs in the Jubilee Room.

🕙 Exhibition open: 10:00 – 16:00

🍴 Railway Kitchen - Axminster is open: 8:30 – 14:00
Serving breakfast and lunch

🍔 The Hungry Moose will also be outside the Guildhall serving up delicious food and drinks throughout the day, so nobody will go hungry!

And if you fancy a drink before or after the exhibition, 🍺 The Ale Way will be open from 14:00 – 18:00 at the station.

It’s going to be one of the big days in Axminster’s year - a must for both families and model railway enthusiasts. You will be able to buy your tickets on the day - £6 for adults and free for accompanied children under 16.

We also have an early bird ticket offer running until Sunday 3 May reducing the adult price to £5. You can grab that opportunity online or simply call in at the Depot and pay by cash or card when the build team is working or if we are open to the public (Thursdays and Saturdays 10am - 12.30pm).

Today, we can announce the full line-up for the Axminster Model Railway Exhibition on 17th May. It’s a pretty impressive one in terms of both the quality of the layouts and the sheer number - we aimed for 16 but have over 20 with at least two more in prospect.

On top of that, we have the support of some respected specialist traders who truly know their stuff.

Whether you’re a long-time enthusiast or just love the magical mini world of model railways, it promises to be a wonderful way to spend a few family hours.

Our online box office goes live today, giving you the opportunity to save money and check in smoothly. Adult tickets are £5 online as opposed to £6 on the day. Accompanied children under 16 go free (a max of three children per paying adult).

Here’s a bit of a lift for a totally depressing day. We are really rather excited to announce that the Axminster Model Railway Exhibition is set to grow to become one of the big events in the town’s calendar.

Organised by For the Love of a Railway in partnership with the Railway Kitchen, this year’s event will be held at the Guildhall on Sunday 17th May from 10am to 4pm. It will feature at least 16 layouts plus specialist traders and displays with refreshments available throughout the day. The much expanded space will also allow for new attractions, including a small steam railway layout and a model boats display in the Guildhall car park.

Event goers will additionally be able to make the short walk to the For the Love of a Railway ‘Depot’ in Chard Street to enjoy a special ‘back in the day’ running display on our amazing model of the Axminster to Lyme Regis Line.

We thought long and hard about moving from our highly appropriate original venue at Axminster Railway Station where we were made so welcome over the past two years. Indoor space is, however, at a premium so there was no way to grow. We also need to capitalise on the opportunity to produce much needed funds for the work of For the Love of a Railway while also offering the public an even more dynamic event.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported the second Axminster Model Railway Exhibition.

It was a fantastic day filled with models, displays, memories, and great conversations.
