This Pride Month, we proudly recognise LGBTQ+ members of the fire and rescue service for their unwavering professionalism, courage, and commitment to their communities.

Teamwork, trust, and respect are the foundation of a modern fire and rescue service, and we believe that diversity makes our service stronger.

Pride Month provides an important opportunity to reflect; however, inclusion and equality must remain a focus throughout the entire year, and we stand with those working to make the sector more inclusive for everyone.

☀️ Spring has well and truly sprung, and we’ve spent the last few months making sure our members are represented locally and nationally.

In recent months, we’ve met with Fire Minister Samantha Dixon and senior civil servants to discuss major issues affecting the fire sector, including:

- Firefighter role reform
- Fire governance
- The sustainability of the On-Call duty system

We also attended the 5th Ministerial Advisory Group meeting, helping shape the future of the sector and ensuring your voices are heard at the highest level.

Across Dorset & Wiltshire, we’ve continued campaigning against proposals to close eight On-Call fire stations, who provide vital emergency cover for our communities.

Alongside all of this, we’ve continued attending tribunals and providing 24/7 support to members, ensuring they receive the protection and representation they deserve.

We’re proud of what’s been achieved so far and are looking forward to what summer brings 💪

The public consultation on the proposed closures of Bradford-on-Avon, Cranborne, Charmouth, Hamworthy, Maiden Newton, Mere and Ramsbury closes at 5pm today (Friday 15 May).
