🍂🦉 An Autumnal Evening at 1st Awsworth Brownies & Guides! 🍎🍁

There was definitely an autumnal feel in the air tonight, so we embraced the season with two lovely activities!

🦉 Pine Cone Owls – The girls got creative making their very own little woodland owls, with some fantastic results!

🍎 Homemade Apple Crumble – Using apples picked from Eula Owl’s tree, the girls made their own apple crumbles from scratch, including making their very own crumble topping! They did an amazing job, and we hope everyone enjoys their creations with lashings of custard or a big scoop of ice cream! 😋🍨

🧹 We can finally hoover the floor! A huge thank you to Vanessa, who very kindly donated a vacuum cleaner to our unit. Such a generous gesture and one that is very much appreciated by all of us! ❤️

We also had a lovely visit from Mandy, who is supporting Tawny Owl as she works towards completing her Leadership Qualification. Not far to go now, Tawny! 🦉👏

Another busy, fun-filled evening with our wonderful girls. Lots of creativity, teamwork, laughter and a little bit of autumn magic! 🍂❤️

So our first week back is complete!
Brownies did some taste testing of different foods - could they tell the premium brands from budget?
Guides looked at life hacks, including removing strawberry stems with straws & making our own lip scrub.

Meanwhile Martha (chestnut owl) took one final attempt at clearing out our activity cupboard before she heads off to university!

🦉✨ Planning Night at 1st Awsworth Brownies & Guides ✨🦉

Tonight was our planning night, and our Eula Owl surprised us with our very own decorations! 🦉💫 Needless to say, we loved them!

But tonight was also a little bit emotional as it was our last night with Lucy (Little Owl) and Martha (Chestnut Owl) before they head off to university. 🎓❤️

We are going to miss these two more than they will ever know. They have been the most amazing Young Leaders and we honestly couldn’t have asked for two better ones. They have given their time, energy, patience and plenty of fun to our Brownies and Guides — and have become such an important part of our unit.

We are incredibly proud of them and wish them both the very best as they start this next adventure. 💕🦉

Don’t forget us while you’re off being grown-ups! 😉😂

Thank you, Lucy and Martha, for everything. You’ll always have a place at 1st Awsworth. ❤️🦉

WANTED: VACUUM CLEANER!

Our Brownie & Guide unit is looking for a vacuum cleaner!

Because, as lovely as our Brownies & Guides are—and they truly are … they can be a little messy! And things get particularly messy when a certain owl decides to buy glitter… 🦉✨😳

So, before we resort to sweeping glitter into the next century, we’re hoping someone might have a working vacuum cleaner sitting around at home that they no longer need and would be willing to donate to our unit.

It doesn’t need to be fancy, pretty or state-of-the-art — just needs to suck up glitter, crumbs and general Brownie & Guide chaos! 😂

If you have one lurking in the back of a cupboard, garage or shed that could find a new home with our unit, please let us know!

💜 Help us keep the Brownie & Guide unit glitter-free… or at least try! ✨

We have a couple of new members joining us for the first time this term.

After being full for quite some time, we're delighted to say we now have a few places available in our unit! 💙

We're a fun, friendly and affordable extracurricular group for girls aged 7–14, offering an exciting programme packed with:

🌳 Outdoor adventures
🍳 Cooking
🎨 Creative activities
🏕️ Trips, sleepovers and camps

We already have lots of exciting activities planned for next term, including an overnight adventure!

Well, that’s it all done for another year — tents packed away, washing on, and what a fantastic weekend it was at our Highland Cow-themed camp!

We had such a great time with our leaders, Rach, Claire, Martha and Elicia. We missed Lucy, but we’ll let her off for going to see Harry Styles (which, to be fair, probably just about beats a Guide camp!), and Viv, who to be fair is far too glamorous for camping — although we’re slowly converting her!

A huge thank you to our amazing Guides who truly made the camp. They are such wonderful girls, and their parents should be incredibly proud. There was great conversation, endless belly laughs, and so many special moments shared throughout the weekend.

We rounded off the camp perfectly with the Guides treating their dads — and mums who are dads too — to a special breakfast. It was a lovely way to end another memorable adventure together.

Thank you Elton Campsites and Holiday House - Nottinghamshire we always have a great time here and already planning next years.

Here’s to many more adventures, more laughter, and more memories made together. 💙🏕️🐮

Day 2 at Elton Guide Camp

Our second day at Elton Guide Camp was mainly focused on Highland cows! We started the day with a fabulous breakfast prepared by our guides, featuring bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. The girls also baked some fabulous shortbread, which was a real treat.

Later in the morning, we made Highland cow pom-poms before enjoying homemade pizza pittas for lunch. In the afternoon, we began working on our embroidered Highland cow projects, which are coming along nicely.

For dinner, we had a delicious spaghetti bolognese before gathering around the campfire in the evening. We toasted marshmallow s’mores and even tried savoury s’mores while watching a beautiful sunset, making a perfect end to another fantastic day at camp
