As we get ready for this year’s Village Family Festival, we are looking for donations for some of our Scout Group stalls.

If you’re having a clear-out at home, we would be very grateful for any of the following:
🍽️ Old or broken crockery for the Crockery Smash
🧸 Soft toys for the Teddy Tombola
🎟️ Unused prizes/items for the Tombola (in excellent condition and in date where applicable - it does not need to be a bottle)
🪴 Plants, seedlings, pots, or garden donations for the Plant Stall

Half term is the perfect time to rummage through cupboards, lofts, garages, and toy boxes!

Donations can be brought along to section meetings over the next two weeks. Thank you so much for supporting the group and helping us make the festival another fantastic community event!

What happens when teenagers are given access to pieces of tree and power tools? 🌳🛠️

They build monkey feeding swings of course! 🐒

These will be heading to a zoo in Sussex to provide enrichment for the monkeys there.

Fun at Phasels Wood for our Cubs last weekend. Lots of adventure with abseiling, crate stacking, high ropes, pedal carts and the cresta run all enjoyed. Plenty of delicious meals from Sally, campfire popcorn and lots of cake too. Not much sleep - but lots of fun!

Last weekend our Scouts took on a 26-mile bike ride along the canal from Rickmansworth back to Aston Clinton. We were treated to glorious weather to begin with and the Scouts cycled brilliantly throughout, coping confidently and politely with some very busy sections of the route.

Thankfully, no one ended up in the canal - although a rogue downpour in the final 45 minutes meant we all finished the ride absolutely soaking wet! Despite the rain, it was a fantastic achievement by everyone involved.

Who says all the fun is just for the youngsters? Sometimes the leaders are out racing around London, taking on the challenge themselves! Had an amazing time at the London Monopoly Run -proof that adventure has no age limit.

Some of our Cubs recently had the honour of presenting a cheque to Jacqui from Lindengate. https://www.lindengate.org.uk/
The funds were raised at our Christmas Tree Recycling event in January. Thanks to the amazing support from our community, there was a brief moment of hesitation when the Cubs saw just how much they’d raised - they weren’t quite sure they wanted to let it go!
In the end, they did the right thing and handed it over, knowing it will go towards supporting the fantastic work Lindengate does. A brilliant effort for a great local cause.

Last weekend some of our group took on the Endurance 10/40/80 challenge — and what an adventure it turned out to be!

6 Cubs completed the 10km route
10 Scouts tackled an impressive 40km
2 of our leaders opted for the 80km challenge

The conditions made it even more memorable… with epic levels of mud along the way! Spirits stayed high thanks to fantastic teamwork and regular supplies of biscuits throughout the day. Our Cubs and Scouts were brilliantly supported by leaders along the routes, helping everyone keep going when the going got tough - including the temporary separation of a pair of boots from their owner!

Some of our walkers even crossed the finish line in the dark, making the achievement feel even more special.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part — a huge well done for the determination and teamwork shown all weekend.

Scouting doesn't stop at half term. Six of our Explorers took a break from exam revision (and gaming) to work on the Chef badge. In spite of one oven having a dodgy thermostat they created some delicious dishes and showed great teamwork in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, two of our Scouts swapped the rainy UK for snowy Switzerland to take part in a county trip to Kandersteg and an amazing international experience.

Thanks to everyone who supported our tree recycling this year, we raised an amazing £2,367! 👏

The total will be split between Lindengate Charity and Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, helping both local and national causes.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported the event — it really does make a difference.
