It appears no wind damage at AMNR this morning but we do have a very hungry Heron. It swallowed three large fresh Sardines, and Sardines out of a tin. Really tame and waits at side of my car drivers door. I have a friend for life.

A bit breezy and fresh at AMNR today counted around 80 Geese on the water, with several behind the tram stop. One Heron, although not the one that comes to me for fresh sardines. One Squirrel happily munching away on bird corn. We have some visiting ducks around ten diving under the water. The nest boxes near the benches are occupied by Blue T**s flying in and out. As for our Swans I think they will nest at the adjacent pond again. Let's hope they are successful, they deserve it.

On inspection of the table and chairs that were left on land owned by Ashton Moss Nature Reserve, I feel the items were flytipped, as no one had asked if we wanted them as a donation. The table having a glass top is one concern, broken glass is not what we need, on top of that there is no way of securing six chairs. I have therefore taken the decision to have the whole set taken to the tip, at our expense. I would like to respectfully remind people, the land and lake at Ashton Moss Nature Reserve, is privately owned, and we cannot be held responsible for any accidents however caused to members of the public. In the near future work will commence on the fitting of bollards across the parking area, to stop vehicles from accidently entering the lake, parking for two or three vehicles will still apply, at owners risk. Our contract does not allow parking on the grass verges. Thank you so much for your support.

What a very kind gesture from a supporting member of the public, a lovely wicker table and matching chairs how very kind. Let's hope it does not get stolen.

Called at the moss this morning to feed the Swans etc, and had the mother of of all accidents.. Parked my car on our parking area, applied the hand brake, and opened the boot. Suddenly heard a loud click, the next thing I was under the rear of the car being dragged along the ground. The car came to a stop with tailgate wide open wedged against a tree on the waters edge. I was rolling trying to get out from under the car. I have to thank the Asian couple and their son for their help, in getting me out and up. I have never like these handbrake switches, for this reason. My car is quite damaged, but driveable, as for myself a couple of minor cuts to my legs, and tomorrow I can expect a very sore and bruised back. To the Asian couple and their son, I cannot thank you enough,

On the news this morning, it showed a clip from Dawlish, where a Swans nest with eggs in it was swept away dooring floods. This is incredibly early for laying eggs. Our Swans will in the meantime keep moving from our lake, to the pond near Argos, probably to decide which site to raise any young. We really do need a season of successful breeding for these two. We also need the patience of vehicle drivers, when the Swans are crossing the busy road. Please give way, its only for a minute or two. Thank you.

The Swans are back on our lake this morning, after holding up the Manchester bound tram for a few minutes while they walked across the tracks. I noticed one of the bird feeders had been stolen it was donated by a kind member of public. Most have a chain on them and if this one is replaced, I will chain it. Thank you everyone for supporting AMNR.

On my visit to AMNR this morning my heart dropped, the Swans were gone, and there were white feathers and signs of flesh. Mr Fox I assume. My main thoughts were the Swans. However after a short drive down the road, there they were in the pond near Argos. Happy as Larry.
