As we are getting to the end of our year I'd like to share with those of you who come to our page some of the units achievements and activities from this year:
We attended-
Blyth VE Day at the quayside
Blyth Battery at war
Ashington fair
Merchant Navy day
Armed Forces Covenant signing
Visit to HMS St Alban's
Visit to HMS Somerset
Visit to Norwegian ship Hjestmanden
Visit to MV Seawell
Visit to HMS Calliope
Wansbeck river open day
We had a successful unit camp in Gosport with many activities including a hovercraft ride, landing craft harbour tour and behind the scenes at the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
We have achieved many qualifications on the water having been able to offer paddles ports and rowing back on our river.
Specialisations in first aid, seamanship and CIS Radio are ongoing within the unit.
We have had visits from the Senior Staff Officer, Councillors, the Civic Head of Ashington, the Lord Lieutenant and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland and the High Sheriff of Northumberland as well as other local groups such as Ashington Freemasons.
All of this cannot be done without our dedicated staff.
Remember, we are always looking for those who would want to join us. Whether that is as a junior, cadet or staff. Just get in touch and see what being a part of this can do for you!
