I spent an enjoyable afternoon at Guidepost Scout Group's family camp (with AGM) at the Nunnykirk County campsite. In National Volunteer Week it was nice to see young people and adults all having a great time and thank you to our wonderful existing and new volunteers for making it happen. Shame I had to miss the barbequed pheasant so I'll just have to visit again next year!

We have been advised of the very sad news that our Scouting friend Stewart McKay has passed away at home on 7th April.

Stewart is known to so many of us in Ashington, Newbiggin and Wansbeck District Scouts, in his role as Venture Scout Leader, District Commissioner, and various roles in adventurous activities for Northumberland County and far beyond.

Our thoughts are with Lennie and Stewart’s family at this time.

It was great to see so many of our young people from across the District receiving their Chief Scout's awards, at Northumberland Scouts’ Awards Day earlier.

This year's Annual General Meeting will be held at 7pm, on Friday 4th October, at 1st Hirst Scout HQ, St Georges Hall, Oakville, Ashington, NE63 9SZ.
If you're one of our valued volunteers, our Explorers, Explorer parents or just interested to hear what we're doing, please join us to reflect on the past year.
We're looking for volunteers to join our trustee board, particularly those aged 18 - 25, or with an interest in becoming treasurer, but everyone's welcome too!
