Huge congratulations to Barrie Wilson from 1st Hirst Scout Group, Wansbeck District who's been awarded the Silver Wolf Award by the Chief Scout.
It's the highest award that an adult can receive and is given for continued service of the most exceptional nature.
Barrie has been an adult volunteer in Scouting for 60 years, 22 years of that as a Scout Leader and another 33 years as the GSL managing the 1st Hirst Scout Group.
He still volunteers as a Trustee and administrator and truly lives the Scouting values.
He received his award from Peter Thorp, County Lead Volunteer Northumberland.

I spent an enjoyable afternoon at Guidepost Scout Group's family camp (with AGM) at the Nunnykirk County campsite. In National Volunteer Week it was nice to see young people and adults all having a great time and thank you to our wonderful existing and new volunteers for making it happen. Shame I had to miss the barbequed pheasant so I'll just have to visit again next year!

We have been advised of the very sad news that our Scouting friend Stewart McKay has passed away at home on 7th April.

Stewart is known to so many of us in Ashington, Newbiggin and Wansbeck District Scouts, in his role as Venture Scout Leader, District Commissioner, and various roles in adventurous activities for Northumberland County and far beyond.

Our thoughts are with Lennie and Stewart’s family at this time.
