Excellent to see the clean up operation at Hoad’s Wood finally start this week. This is opposite the entrance to the woods. The contractors are building a bunded concrete area some 2000 square metres in area for trucks to be washed down once they have collected the waste from the c35,000 tonnes piled up in the woods before transporting it to legal landfill sites. Thank you all for your support in making this happen 💚🙏

We're relieved to share that three arrests have been made in connection with the illegal dumping of 35,000 tonnes of waste at Hoad's Wood, a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This organised criminality which will cost over £15 million to clear, has been nothing short of an environmental catastrophe.

This progress wouldn't have been possible without the tireless efforts of Rescue Hoad's Wood, who teamed up with conservation charities like us to push for government action. Their work led to a ministerial order for the clean-up—an incredible win for nature! 🌿

Now, we call on authorities to commit to restoring the wildlife and ecosystems once the waste is finally cleared. Hoad's Wood deserves to thrive again. 💚
