🐾 BOSTON — THROUGH HELL, HIGH WATER & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN ❤️
Every now and then, an adoption story comes along that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.
Boston was just six months old when he was adopted by Louise and her partner, and from the very beginning they have had to navigate both medical challenges and behavioural difficulties that would have been overwhelming for many people.
Boston has always found the world a difficult place. He is incredibly protective, deeply loyal to the people he trusts, and still doesn't trust other people easily.
But these two have never looked at Boston and thought, “We have a problem dog.”
Instead, they have looked at Boston.
They have stood loyally by him through every challenge, given him the security he needs, worked patiently with him and, most importantly, never allowed his difficulties to stop him from experiencing life. ❤️
And just look at him now. 🥹
This summer alone, Boston has been exploring the UK from Yorkshire all the way down to Cornwall — visiting beautiful places, discovering new smells, paddling in the sea, exploring ruins and countryside, enjoying time on the water and even going out on a kayak!
His confidence has grown enormously. A dog who was once terrified of water now loves having a paddle… although apparently he still draws the line at getting his bum wet! 😂
Louise shared this wonderful update with us today:
“Boston has been out exploring the UK over the summer so far, from Yorkshire down to Cornwall.
Health wise we are doing better. He still does not trust anyone (apart from us and Louise at JFD!) but we are trying to not let that stop him having adventures. His confidence is growing the more we do, from being terrified of water to loving a paddle (although he draws the line at getting his bum wet!).”
And honestly, this is what love, patience and commitment can achieve. ❤️
Boston hasn't had to become a different dog to deserve this life.
His family have simply learned how to give Boston the life he deserves as the dog he is.
They understand his boundaries. They keep him safe. They advocate for him. They give him security — and then they gently open the door to the world.
So when people ask us why rescue dogs with behavioural challenges deserve that chance, Boston is one of our answers.
Because sometimes the biggest transformations aren't about changing the dog.
They're about finding the people willing to understand them. ❤️
Louise and her partner, we are incredibly proud of you both.
And Boston… what an absolutely wonderful life you are living. 🐾❤️
Here’s to many more adventures — and perhaps one day, Boston might even get his bum wet! 😂🌊
