Arnside Choral Society Arnside Choral Society is a welcoming mixed choir with a membership of approximately 50. We look forward to seeing you!

No auditions, no experience required just a sense of humour & and an enthusiasm for singing with like-minded people. Arnside Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir, based in South Lakeland, Cumbria, with an ever-expanding membership of over 50. Under its dynamic and energetic conductors, Ian Allan and Tracie Penwarden, the choir gives two regular concerts, usually at Christmas and in the Summer, and also takes part in the Mary Wakefield Festival in Kendal. To find out what we will be rehearsing and performing in the future please take a look at our Diary Page. Rehearsals take place at Arnside's WI Hall in Orchard Road on Tuesdays at 7.30 and we offer a very warm welcome to anybody wishing to join us in singing a variety of styles. No audition necessary but an abundance of enthusiasm, a sense of humour and the ability to sing in tune would be helpful! To join us all you have to do is turn up to any rehearsal or concert or look out for our open evening which takes place in September.

And we’re back!

What a lovely first get-together at Arnside Choral Society on Tuesday evening! It was wonderful to welcome back so many familiar faces after the summer and especially lovely to see some new faces joining us too.

There was plenty of singing, listening, laughing and getting those choral brains working again… a great start to our new season!

Fancy joining us? New members are always welcome - come along and give us a try.

WE’RE BACK ON TUESDAY!

Arnside Choral Society begins its new season this Tuesday evening and I’m really looking forward to getting everyone back together and starting work on our new programme.

And, as ever, we’d be delighted to welcome some new faces. You don’t need to be an experienced choral singer - just enjoy singing, be willing to have a go and come along to see what we’re all about.

And gentlemen… I’m looking at you! 👀

Our lovely tenors and basses would be VERY pleased to have a few more men standing alongside them this season. So, if you’ve ever thought about joining a choir, sung before and fancy getting back to it, or simply want to find out whether it might be for you - Tuesday is the perfect night to give us a try.

No audition. No scary singing on your own. Just a friendly choir, some great music and a warm welcome.

TENORS & BASSES… WE NEED YOU!

Arnside Choral Society is getting ready to return for a new season of singing - and while we’d love to welcome new singers in every section, we’d be especially delighted to hear from some tenors and basses!

Perhaps you’ve sung before but haven’t been in a choir for a while. Perhaps you’ve recently moved to the area. Or perhaps you’ve always fancied giving choral singing a try but never quite taken the plunge.

You don’t need to be a brilliant sight-reader or have years of experience - just enjoy singing, be willing to have a go and come along with an open mind.

We’re a friendly bunch, we work hard, we laugh a lot, and we have some wonderful music ahead of us this year.

So, gentlemen of Arnside and the surrounding area… where are you hiding?!

Come and give us a try - you might be exactly the voice we’re looking for.

And to my local friends...please share! You may know a tenor or bass who just needs a little nudge…

We’re delighted to be offering Choral Scholarships with Arnside Choral Society for the coming season.

This is a wonderful opportunity for singers who would like to develop their choral singing, gain valuable experience and enjoy making music as part of a friendly and established choir.

Our Choral Scholars will receive free membership and music hire, weekly rehearsals with professional musical direction, and the opportunity to perform in two major concerts each year, alongside other projects and performances.

Whether you’re looking to broaden your musical experience, develop your confidence as a singer or simply discover the joy of singing great choral music with others, we’d love to hear from you.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Summer Concert last night. We were absolutely delighted to perform to a sell-out audience, and your support means so much to us.

Our sincere thanks go to everyone at St James' Church for their hospitality, and to all those who worked behind the scenes before, during and after the concert. From selling tickets and serving refreshments to moving chairs, setting up, clearing away and everything in between, your help made the evening run so smoothly and contributed enormously to its success.

Thank you also to our wonderful audience for your enthusiasm, encouragement and generous support throughout the evening. It was a joy to share our music with you.

We're already looking forward to our next concert on Saturday 19th December. More details will follow in due course.
For now, we're taking a break over the summer.
