Students have the opportunity to work towards London College of Music examinations, while also developing the confidence and enjoyment that comes from playing music with others.
Many of our fiddle students have joined us as complete beginners and progressed to playing as part of our orchestra. The success of the music programme has also led to the formation of our own Ceilidh Band, giving musicians further opportunities to perform together.
๐ Highland Dance
Our popular Highland Dance classes cater for children and young people from P1 to 16 years and take place in both Millar Memorial Hall and the Old Courthouse, Markethill.
Students are given the opportunity to work towards UK Alliance Dance examinations, developing technique, confidence and performance skills along the way.
Throughout the year, our dancers are also given the opportunity to perform at a variety of public and community events, allowing them to showcase their skills, gain valuable performance experience and proudly represent Mid-Armagh Community Network.
๐ญ Drama
Weekly Drama classes take place in Kilcluney Hall, Markethill, for young people aged 7 to 18 years.
Students develop their acting, speech, communication and performance skills in an encouraging environment and are given the opportunity to undertake Trinity College London examinations.
๐ถ Community Choir
Our Community Choir, open to high-school age upwards, meets weekly in Millar Memorial Hall and is all about music, fun and friendship.
The choir was established following the Covid pandemic with the aim of bringing people back together and helping to combat the social isolation experienced by many during that time.
It has since become an important part of Mid-Armagh Community Network and performs at numerous community events throughout the year.
New members are always welcome โ no previous choir experience is necessary.
โญ๏ธKeeping Music, Dance & Drama Alive in Our Communityโญ๏ธ
At the heart of Mid-Armagh Community Network is a commitment to providing opportunities for people of all ages to learn new skills, develop their talents, build confidence, make friendships and celebrate our Ulster-Scots culture and heritage.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of our funders, the Ulster-Scots Agency and the Department of Foreign Affairs Reconciliation Fund, without whose support we could not deliver our programme.
