Bible lost.

A resident in the village has unfortunately misplaced their Bible this morning while on their way to their place of worship. It may be in the village or on the main Monaghan Road area.

As many of us know, a Bible often holds deep sentimental value, with personal notes and highlighted verses that can’t be replaced. This one is especially meaningful to its owner.

If anyone has come across it, please get in touch with this page so we can help return it to them. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

This image is for illustration purposes but the Bible is a similar colour and style.

Thank you

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jean Armstrong, a lifelong resident of Monaghan Street.

Jean was a truly lovely and Godly lady, always greeting everyone with a gentle smile and kind word. Jean and her late husband were held in the highest regard in Milford.

Jean’s kindness and faith touched many lives, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family circle at this very sad time.

“Absent from the body, present with the Lord.”

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Ida Holland (née Lee) of Hill Street earlier this week.

Ida was a lifelong resident of Milford and will be fondly remembered by many, especially those who remember a shop run from the front room of her home.

For many years, Ida welcomed local residents with warmth, kindness, and a friendly word, and she was a familiar and much-loved presence in the community.
In recent times, Ida’s health had not been good, and her passing will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family and friends at this very sad time.

We regret to inform you of the recent death of Ida HOLLAND

Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the death (1932) of William McCrum, the inventor of the penalty kick.

William McCrum introduced the idea of the penalty kick in 1890 while playing as a goalkeeper for Milford FC in Milford, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. At the time, there was little to deter defenders from deliberately fouling players who were about to score. McCrum’s proposal addressed this injustice and helped protect attacking play.

In 1891, just one year later, the penalty kick was formally written into the Laws of the Game following several controversial incidents inside the penalty area. This innovation transformed football, ensuring fairer play and shaping the modern game we know today.

William McCrum’s grave was restored in August 2015 through the dedicated efforts of the Milford NISC, with the support of the AONISC, at a cost of approximately £10,000.

The verse inscribed on his grave is Hebrews 4:15
