πŸ•ŠοΈ D-Day – 6th June

Today, we remember the courage, sacrifice and determination of those who took part in the D-Day landings of 6th June 1944.

On this day, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, beginning the liberation of Western Europe from N**i occupation and helping to secure the freedoms that many enjoy today.

Among those who served were countless members of the Orange Institution, who answered the call of duty alongside their comrades from across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and beyond.

As we mark this anniversary, we remember all those who served, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will remember them.

The County Armagh Twelfth Demonstration is now firmly established as the largest Orange gathering in the world on the day and encompasses the full range of the Orange family. 11 District Lodges will be on parade, with a total of 150 Private Lodges and over 5,000 Brethren; in addition, Lodges from the Association of Loyal Orangewomen of Ireland will take part, along with a number of Junior Boys and Junior Girls Lodges. The Co Armagh Demonstration can attract upwards of 20,000 spectators.

Around 70 bands will accompany the Lodges and some of the finest Pipe, Accordion, Silver and Flute Bands in the country will be on parade. This year, there will be a new band on parade with Moyrourkan True Blues LOL 305a, leading their Junior Lodge.
There are always approximately 4 Scottish bands on parade at the Co Armagh demonstration and as the β€œCounty of the Diamond” is well-known for the Lambeg Drum, dozens will be accompanying the Lodges, especially if the weather is favourable.
