Today we celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of ethnic minority women in our communities.

Women who lead.
Women who support.
Women who break barriers and inspire the next generation.

Your voices, cultures and contributions make our communities stronger every day.

Happy International Women’s Day from Minority Ethnic Support Armagh. 💜”

Minority Ethnic Support Armagh. 💜”

Chestita Baba Marta!!

Baba Marta (Grandmother March) is a traditional celebration marking the arrival of spring, widely celebrated in Bulgaria. On this day, people exchange red and white woven bracelets called Martenitsi, symbolising health, happiness, and new beginnings. The red represents life and strength, while the white represents purity and hope. Martenitsi are worn until the first signs of spring appear, then tied to a blossoming tree for good luck.

This beautiful tradition celebrates renewal, community, and the promise of brighter days ahead.
With heartfelt thanks to Mount Saint Catherine’s Primary School, Armagh to the teachers, parents, and pupils for celebrating Baba Marta with us and helping to share this meaningful cultural tradition. 🌿✨

Huge thank you to the PSNI for funding and facilitating a fantastic day out at Newforge Sports Centre, Belfast! 🏀⚽🥊🏑

Twenty children from diverse ethnic backgrounds in Armagh joined twenty-five children from Greater Belfast for a day packed with basketball, hockey, football, and boxing.

New friendships were made, barriers were broken, and everyone went home well-fed, tired, and happy! 💛🤝✨

🌟 A huge thank you to Heritage Lottery NI for giving our families the opportunity to experience the Armagh City and Gargoyles Trail, we absolutely loved it! 💚

We explored Armagh’s incredible story spanning over 7,500 years, from ancient Ireland to its beautiful Georgian heritage.

Along the way, we learned about the bronze casting technique that’s been practiced in Ireland for more than 4,000 years, and discovered 22 hidden bronze sculptures across the city’s historic buildings each with its own message and lesson. 🗿✨
A big thank you also to Armagh Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council for hosting such an inspiring and educational day! 🙌

The Post Brexit Security Field on the Island of Ireland: The Role of Civil Society in Everyday Security.

Minority Ethnic Support Armagh is delighted to contribute to this important research, which recognises the vital role of community and voluntary organisations in fostering everyday security.

Our vision is to ensure that all minority ethnic communities feel safe, included, and supported in accessing their rights to health, housing, education, and employment.

Through this collaboration, we hope to highlight the experiences and voices of ethnic minority groups, influencing policies that promote equality, human rights, and social cohesion. We believe this research will strengthen understanding of how community-led approaches can build a more inclusive and secure post-Brexit society.

Good Relations Week 2025.

Thank you to PSNI and to all the local schools in Armagh City that took part in Good Relations week 2025. We looked at race/hate speech, race/hate crime and bullying and how to report it. We left Race Hate Awareness leaflets in different languages to be sent home to families. We reached almost 1500 children which far exceeded our expectations!!

Thank you to all involved.
