A monumental day for 1138 (Ardrossan) Squadron as we gathered to commemorate the anniversary of the HMS Dasher tragedy an event we attend annually.

It was particularly special this year as we were honoured by the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, whose visit added a truly special significance to the day’s proceedings.

A huge thank you to the Royal British Legion for the invitation. As the host squadron, we were also delighted to extend this opportunity to our fellow Ayrshire squadrons seeing so many blue uniforms together in Ardrossan was a fantastic sight.

Cadets receive their wings.
As a result of getting cadets into the air 1138 have recently been able to award blue wings to Sgt McCann & Cpl McCallum.
The blue wings syllabus covers flight theory, simulator training and practical flight elements.

Recently our cadets had the fantastic opportunity to visit Prestwick Airport Air Traffic Control.

During the visit, cadets gained a fascinating insight into the vital roles carried out within the ATC Tower - from Radar Operations to Visual control room. They learned how air traffic controllers manage aircraft safely and efficiently and discovered the teamwork and precision required to keep our skies running smoothly
Our cadets also had the opportunity to speak directly with the team at Prestwick ATC, asking question and learning more about th edifferent career pathways within Air Traffic Control.
A massive thank you to all the team at Prestwick ATC for taking the time to host us and for providing such an engaging and educational experience.
