Park Appleton WI A trusted place for women, run by women of all generations - an opportunity to share experiences. The WI Means Opportunity-The Modern Voice for Women.

The WI is whatever you want it to be. The WI is the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK. It plays a unique role in enabling women to develop new skills and gives them opportunities to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. Whatever you choose, the WI promises to be a constant source of inspiring experiences. We have a variety of extra groups..gardening, walking, craft n chat and book club

Another busy week at Appleton Park WI. At our monthly meeting Martin Mather came to talk to us about ‘ Tax, Care and Toy Boys’ and gave us some useful information about how to manage our finances.
Later in the week we visited Liverpool to see A Letter to Brezhnev - a fantastic production and of course followed by a delicious meal!

Wonderful day out today at the Chester Storyhouse for the CFWI Autumn meeting.
We raised the roof singing Jerusalem and then after the welcoming introductions we had the inspirational speaker Dr Mark Williams, a former Paralympic swimmer who told his story and how he developed covers for prosthetic legs. Then we were entertained by the Chester Rock Choir who after hearing us singing Jerusalem got us to join in at the end.

After lunch Dame Floella Benjamin told us her life story from Trinidad to being in the House of Lords. What a journey she has undertaken. Humpty from Playschool also made an appearance.

Our day finished off with a meal@at Chez Jules, our favourite destination when we are in Chester.

Roll on the next CFWI meeting next Spring.

We’ll start with a short recap of Session 1, before exploring new ground with more practical ideas and demonstrations.

Both sessions are friendly, relaxed and designed to build your confidence.

Our Craft and Chat group have changed location from a member’s home, due to expanding numbers, to the nearby Cat and Lion pub. It was a successful move.
Promise no alcohol passed our lips. We don’t want any wonky sewing or knitting!
Patterns were discussed and ideas for our Christmas post box topper. Also items for our local hospitals.

16th September is WI Day!

This week, we'll be proudly celebrating 111 years of The WI — a movement shaped by women learning, leading, and lifting each other up since 1915. The theme for this anniversary is purple/lavender, a colour connected to the Suffragettes, who used purple to symbolise dignity, freedom, and women’s empowerment. All values that are reflected through the creativity, loyalty, and wisdom at the heart of the WI today.

At our monthly meeting on Monday, some of our members dressed up in purple/lilac to celebrate the WI. The photos were taken in groups of three 1+1+1=111 - celebrating the strength, friendship and influence of our wonderful movement.
