Many thanks to Ian McFadyen for his help unloading additional turf brought over by Fraser from Highlandturf, Evanton, yesterday, For once we are glad to see light rainshowers in Applecross as the ground has been so dry in recent weeks. We hope to get the turf down today to complete the grass around the play area and then seats and picnic tables can be set out for all to enjoy. If anyone has any spare time and you would like to help, please feel free to come along to the hall but old clothes advised as could get dirty. A few weeds needing pulled, grass down and then watered so even filling a watering can over the next few days should help.

Nice to see so many folk turning out to vote yesterday, the hall lounge turning into a Polling Station for the day with voting taking place from 7am till 10pm. 90 people voted in person in Applecross plus a significant amount who also sent in postal votes. We also had a number of teenagers voting for the first time, the qualifying age in Scotland being age 16 in comparison to England where it is 18yrs old. The ballot boxes were driven through the night to Inverness where the count will begin today at 9am. You can see the count taking place and live declarations made later by clicking on the link below or going over to the Highland Council page.

Our thanks to Niamh and Tasting Shapes who took to the stage to play in Applecross Hall on Saturday night. Plenty support from their dancing fans on the floor and so nice to see the friendly faces of those who had traveled over from Shieldaig and Lochcarron for the night. Most stylish presentation of raffle prizes yet and dancers with streamers by the end of the night. Every event differs slightly and thanks to the good natured customers who ensured good trade at the bar and on raffle tickets which help support events taking place. All tidied up in the hall by midnight (thanks Anne, Caty & Derek ) as the younger generation headed on to continue partying the night away.
