We were all so sad to hear of Isabel's passing at Highland Hospice on Monday morning. She came along to our weekly lunch club as long as she was able, cheering all with her humour and sense of fun and sharing memories and photographs of her time in Applecross.
Our thoughts are with Alan and her family at this time.

Passed away on Monday 20th July 2026 at the Highland Hospice with her family by her side offering her great comfort, Isabella Cross, 16 Towerhill Place, Inverness and Rowanlea, Camusteel, Applecross aged 84 years. Former Proprietor Applecross Hotel. Beloved wife of Allan, most loving mother to Kevin and Trevor, dear grandmother to Flora, Angus and Daisy, dear sister to Angela, a sad loss to so many friends in Applecross, Lochcarron, Inverness and the West. Funeral service on Thursday 6th August at 1.00pm in Clachan Church, Applecross; thereafter private cremation.
All welcome to attend.

Last week it was so hot that the planned Roast Chicken Dinner transformed into a cool chicken salad but this week all enjoyed the hot mince complete with cobbler and cabbage. Thanks again to the kitchen team for all their hard work behind the scenes and also to Clive who produced delicious banoffee pie for last week's dessert
With recent sad losses, the importance of being able to come together to socialise and enjoy company together is as important as the lovely food on offer.
Members of Lunch Club also gathered last Friday at Clachan, to bid farewell to Margaret McCowan and the flowers in full bloom in the sunshine at the Walled Garden looked beautiful as soup, sandwiches, tea & baking was served following the funeral. Lots of comments and words of praise given to Sylvia to pass on to her daughter Heather, on how wonderful the Walled Garden is looking, lifting spirits of all who visit.

The foodstuff on Monday went quite quickly and this Wednesday afternoon there is a new selection of surplus items, most bb 21st July. Lots of sourdough bread & crumpets, a variety of chilled items needing quick use including lots of Prosciutto Crudo with truffle packs, some chocolate party cakes and a variety of biscuits bought with donations from the tin.

Angus MacDonald MP and David Green MSP will be at Applecross Community Hall at 3pm this Thursday (23rd July) and are keen to meet residents who have issues they would like to raise.

A new selection of foodstuff is out on the Sharing Tables at the hall this Monday afternoon.Most bb 19.7.26 and from the shelves last night. Gluten free bread, flat mushrooms, peppers & salad stuff plus some cakes and bakery items to sample.

Another tasty meal including fish pie and fruit crumble served up by Kalie, Anne, Catriona and Ishbel at our weekly Wednesday Lunch Club. We were all saddened to hear of the death of one of our members, Margaret McCowan, over in Lochcarron on Monday night and will miss her presence and memoirs at the table greatly. All sat just a little bit longer after lunch in reflective mood and a reminder that Lunch Club provides not only lovely meals but the chance to enjoy one anothers company, especially at times like these.
Margaret's funeral is due to take place at 12 noon at Clachan on Friday 17th July.
