A lively Playgroup on in the main hall this morning and plenty of fun and little folk zooming around with the ride on toys. Some surplus foodstuff from Tesco Extra includes various baguettes, sourdough, sliced fruit and salad packs.

It was so hot and sunny yesterday, our Black Isle Bears decided to move into the fenced Play Area to enjoy the shade of the rowan tree as suggested by young Roddy when helping lay the turf. Many thanks to those who assisted moving them across the car park and DJ's 17mm socket and ratchet set came in very handy.
Back to rain showers this morning but it is helping the new turf thrive.
A little cuddly toy was found hiding in the grass and it found shelter with the Buddy Bench Bears for the night should any youngster be looking for it.

Playgroup switched to the Main Hall today as a Vaccination Clinic is being held in the Lounge. Tomorrow evening members of our Hall Committee are due to meet at 7pm and the usual weekly group activities will be continuing.
We received a delivery of some additional FareShare food items from Lochcarron at the weekend including a basketful of citrus fruit which complimented our Saturday evening show title, My Darling Clementine. The pears turned out to be extremely juicy. Still some bags of baking and white potatoes left too for this week.

The Hardest Song to Sing - in memory of young Bebe King.
During the second half of the concert on Saturday night, Lou and Michael shared some very emotive songs that each have written in tribute to their granddaughter Bebe King. 6yr old Bebe was one of three young girls who were killed in the Southport stabbings during the first week of the school holidays in July 2024 whilst attending a yoga, dance and bracelet making workshop in a community venue which hosted events such as our own. A meaningful silence in the audience as each sang, conveying emotions that hit the heart of anyone sharing such loss or tragedy. The last song, 'Sally Spakles', also displaying how happy memories of loved ones will live on.
After playing in Strathpeffer over the weekend, this week My Darling Clementine complete their Scottish tour playing in Stornoway on the 27th, Biggar on the 29th and Coatbridge on the 31st May. More details can be found on the website mydarlingclementinemusic.co.uk

It was lovely to welcome talented country & folk duo, Lou Dalgleish and Michael Weston King to Applecross Hall on Saturday night.
Once again many thanks to all who help such events happen in so many ways.
Sean Kilbride set up the stage and sound whilst our Hall team of Anne on the bar and Elodie and Rhona on the door & raffle were joined by Ishbel, Elizabeth, Rachel and Ruth who did a power of work tidying the kitchen and hall at the end of the night. Once again the Applecross Inn provided a meal for our artists before the show and Hartfield House, overnight accommodation afterwards. A true community collaboration. Whilst the band had come up from mid Wales , it was nice to welcome audience members from across the UK in addition to friendly faces over from Alligin and our own villages of Camusteel and Milltown. A special mention to annual visitors Henry Penman and friends and we hope all who were walking got back to the Campsite and Hartfield House safely.
