Our Squirrels have been busy over the last few weeks, working towards their Story Time Badge! 🐿️📖

We kicked things off during National Storytelling Week, taking inspiration from the book Tiddler. The Squirrels became storytelling fish, each adding the next part of the tale when they were “caught”, which led to a very creative (and slightly silly!) story masterpiece. 🐟✨

Over the following sessions they explored lots of ways to bring stories to life - creating their own characters, making books, using props to retell familiar stories and building the confidence to share their ideas with the rest of the group.

To finish the badge, we visited Eccleshill Library the eve of World Book Day. The Squirrels listened to a story read by one of the librarians, proudly shared the story they have created, went on a book treasure hunt and even made their own bookmarks.

Each Squirrel received a World Book Day certificate, Bookstart Bear stickers, and we even came away with a special Library Award! 🎉

We’re really proud of their creativity and confidence - well done Squirrels! 🐿️ ❤️
