Both fiction and non-fiction can bring to life the realities of what our Armed Forces go through both whilst serving and family life - celebrating the lives, and honouring the sacrifices.

On 15 January 1945, Field Marshal Montgomery is pictured wearing the jump jacket and red beret of The Parachute Regiment. 'Monty' was appointed by King George VI as Colonel Commandant of the Parachute Regiment.

The scarf he is wearing is one of thousands that were used by British troops on the night of 5-6 June 1944, when they were dropped by parachute in Normandy.

🚴‍♀️ What an incredible event! 🚴‍♂️

SSAFA Aldershot was proud to have a table at the 24hr Indoor Cycle Marathon held at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, helping to support an amazing cause.

A fantastic £20,000+ was raised for Children in Need, and we loved meeting so many supporters throughout the event. Special thanks to Pudsey Bear and the players from Aldershot Town Football Club who stopped by and took part — it was brilliant to see such strong community spirit on display.

Thank you to everyone who pedalled, donated, visited, and supported this inspiring challenge 💛

We were honoured when Chiltern Way Academy Basingstoke invited our SSAFA Hampshire Chair to their Remembrance Service at St Mark’s Church on 14 November.

The Academy supports young people aged 10–16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs and their respect, attention, and curiosity made the service truly special.

Students learned about the work we do at SSAFA, while members of the congregation shared touching family stories from World War II. The theme of the day family, community, remembrance shone through.

One very smart cadet read a beautiful poem and laid a wreath on behalf of everyone present.

Afterwards, over tea and biscuits, Clive and his wife Leslie spent time talking with students, staff, and volunteers. We also left information leaflets for teachers and for a local Food Bank.
