PEOPLE OF ANDOVER 💛
Meet Tommy Gentleman.

“I’m Tommy Gentleman — a local business owner and Chairman of the Jamie G Sporting Trust.”

If you’ve been involved in grassroots sport in Andover, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Tommy.

Player.
Coach.
Supporter.

And someone deeply passionate about giving others the same opportunities.
“Grassroots sport means everything. It’s where it all starts.”

Through the Jamie G Sporting Trust, a charity set up in his brother Jamie's memory, Tommy helps provide grants to local clubs — supporting young people with equipment, facilities, and opportunities they might not otherwise have.

But his impact doesn’t stop there.

He’s also on a mission to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young — helping fund free heart screening for young people.

“All through a project called 156 Kicks.”

Because for Tommy, it’s about protecting the next generation as much as supporting them.

And at the passion for it all?

Andover.

“What I love about this town is that we know how to lift each other up.”
In the tough moments…
And in the good ones too.
“We come together when times are hard, but we also celebrate each other’s wins.”

Having seen the town evolve over the past 20 years, Tommy’s proud of what Andover has become — and what it continues to be.
“A growing community, with new people coming in and embracing it as their own.”
From the pitch… to the community… to charity.

That’s People of Andover. 💛

Lovely to talk with them all after how much they enjoy playing together weekly & how the friendships have developed & how well the Teams are progressing.

Words of Thanks from Steven Carter (HW Curriculum Lead For ICT & Computing & ‘Heat’ Basketball Team) :

On Friday 27th February 2026, Jacqueline & Louise from The Jamie G Sporting Trust presented £950.00 to the Harrow Way Community School to develop Basketball at the school. This sponsorship was specifically allocated to provide the team with high-quality playing kits, basketballs & an electronic scoreboard.

Founded in memory of Jamie Gentleman, the Trust is managed by family & dedicated committee members who work tirelessly to provide financial support to local sporting clubs & aspiring athletes. Mr Carter, coach of the "Heat" basketball team has created a boys & girls basketball team & they playing competitive games against other schools. 🍂🍁 Autumn Awards …

🏉 Andover Rugby Club Andover Rugby Club £2323.80

Words of thanks from Chairman Andy Preece:

The Club always welcome the association of the Gentleman Family & The Jamie G Sporting Trust.
As you are aware the club is like an extended family & very pleasing to see the children of past/present players playing the game we love.
Thank you so much for the support awarded £2323 towards Personalised Rugby Balls & training aids/equipment for our Juniors. Much appreciated.

Andy’s role as Chairman & principal coach for the U6’s is very rewarding & you can see how passionate he & his fellow Team of Coaches work together.
It was also great to speak with both Carl Sievewright Commercial Manager & Jamie Cockrell Academy Chairman.

We all agreed seeing the crop of new coming into the Academy & more youths joining the Club is amazing. How far the Club has evolved, exciting times ahead.
