What's your relationship to AI?

Maybe it's found a place in your practice, or you're wondering how it could be a useful addition.

This was the topic of Emma Kelliher's presentation at the recent BAS 2026 Annual Conference and she has again shared her insights in our weekly newsletter.

Visit our website to join the newsletter where we discuss all things sclerotherapy, vein treatments, running a successful practice and much more.

And if you missed the 2026 Conference you can now purchase the recordings, also on our website.

The effect of sclerosant in the arterial system is a very serious complication. Undertaking sclerotherapy for cosmetic veins on the face is considered extremely high risk with visual loss and permanent blindness a genuine life changing and devastating outcome.

This week's BAS newsletter article was triggered by a recent case of a patient who received sclerotherapy for a forehead vein which tragically ended with complete blindness. The article discusses the peri-orbital vascular anatomy, the possible mechanisms of the complication and potential management. It is a salutary tale and a reminder why sclerotherapy of facial veins is ill advised.

One of the most common requests we receive in our conference feedback is for more discussion on the complications of sclerotherapy.

Hence we were delighted to invite recognised expert in neurological events following foam sclerotherapy, Huw Davies to speak at our conference earlier this month.

Huw's presentation was very well received and following which he has also shared an article with our members and subscribers with his expertise around dealing with adverse events following sclerotherapy.

We're keen to keep the conversation open.

Please share your experiences with us so we can continue to bring you the most relevant, inspiring and empowering content.

Interesting, relevant and inspiring is the feedback we've received from BAS 2026 - with a review by board member and aesthetic nurse Gaynor Hughes.

The full review was in our weekly newsletter - sign up to make sure you hear all updates from The BAS!

We were particularly pleased that our new aesthetic day was well-received - as Gaynor mentions in her review, a lot of aesthetic events focus just on face rejuvenation, and BAS 2026 offered this and so much more.

If you'd like to catch up on everything that was covered, the BAS 2026 Conference recording will be available soon.

And we're back for Day 2 of the BAS 2026 Annual Conference - and today we're focusing on aesthetic vein treatment with another great line-up of speakers.

Day 1 was fantastic - we'd like to thank every one who presented, not just for your brilliant presentations, but for also being open to having honest conversations in the Q&As and the breaks.

And this is what The BAS is all about; presenting you with the best information so you can elevate your practice and deliver the best outcomes for your patients.

The livestream is running as well, and we've loved hearing where you are all tuning in from.

And the BAS 2026 Annual Conference is underway!

We've already heard from our experts in this morning's Venous Forum; so a big thank you to Professor Bruce Campbell, Dr Leanne Atkin and Hayley Moore for joining us.

Our additional training is also taking place for those wishing to add Basic Life Support and Sepsis Training to their tool kit.

Our audience are breaking for lunch whether here with us in Windsor or watching from our livestream - and then we'll be kicking off our afternoon sessions.

Professor Ellie Lindsay will be starting with her presentation sharing her approach to lower limb maintenance, and we are supporting The Lindsay Leg Club with our raffle.

And this is only the first day! We also have a full day, especially tailored to those interested in aesthetic veins, coming up tomorrow.

If you'd wished you had brought a ticket to BAS 2026, you can still join the livestream, and your ticket will include a recording of the whole Conference.

09/05/2026

Not long to go now until this year's BAS Conference - for those looking to advance in the treatment of medical and aesthetic veins - people are still signing up!

If you can't make it to Windsor, join us on the Livestream! Tickets are on our website - and you will receive a recording and CPD Certificate.
