If you are upcycling or repairing items and you need some haberdashery supplies then Ugly Duckling in the Chantry Centre is a good resource.
There are also two or three well stocked sewing shops in Andover and Weyhill.

If you have any items you think we might be able to repair for you, including electrical or electronic items which we PAT test, we are happy to help. If you aren't sure if we can repair the item then please email us in advance.

Come and join us for a cup of tea or coffee and bring your clean item to St Ann's Hall, Suffolk Rd, Andover from 10am until 1pm.
The last fix is at 12.30.

Let's keep reusing where we can and avoid putting objects into landfill! 💚

Volunteer with us!

If you’re passionate about waste prevention and like engaging with your local community, then why not join our team of Waste Prevention Community Champions?

This flexible volunteering role can fit around your other commitments, and we only ask for around 30 hours a year (about 2 and a half hours a month). As a Waste Prevention Community Champion, you will have the chance to participate in various activities including attending community events with an interactive waste prevention stand, giving talks to local groups and schools or writing blogs and articles.

We know you are the experts on your local communities so welcome new ideas too!

We will give you full training and access to online and practical resources to help get you started. We also provide dedicated support and regular updates and communications.

Recycled fashion event

The Great Green Wardrobe has come to Andover!

Come and visit us at the Chantry Centre until 9th June, to explore this fun, interactive display, and pick up inspiration on how to look great, save money and help the planet. 🌍

Whether you’re interested in learning more about upcycling techniques, restyling your outfits to give them a new lease of life, or finding clothes that last longer without breaking the bank, The Great Green Wardrobe has something for everyone!

The display was created by Hampshire County Council as part of the Smart Living waste prevention initiative, https://www.hants.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling/smartliving, with support from the charity Making Space.

Regarding our May event, Guy B recorded 16 repair jobs. We were able to fix 14 items; one of the remaining jobs requires additional parts to be purchased by the customer, and for the other, a watch, we recommended a horologist in Salisbury, but we repaired the strap. No items were considered irreparable.The Restarters website calculates that we prevented 42 Kg of waste and 310 Kg of CO2

Feedback was also excellent, everybody who remembered to tick a satisfaction score (3 people forgot and left it blank) ticked 'very happy'. Customers commended the helpfulness of all our volunteers, as well as the help given by their specific repairer. So thanks to you all.

Ugly Duckling event ❤️

Clocks, candle stick lamps, dust busters, PlayStations, power drills, hedge cutters, cat scratch toys and wooden card tables were all on the menu today.
So we saw a genuinely eclectic mix of items and were very pleased with the high success rate.

Our next Repair Cafe is this Saturday morning the 16th May from 10 until 1pm.
Last fix at 12.30.
Ideally one item per visitor unless we have time for two.
