University study shows that many electronic items that can be repaired are being recycled.

Experts say it is not being properly considered if goods can be fixed, reused or turned into parts.

We’ve made it easier for 13.5 million people to recycle their old electricals!

And there’s more to come. Over the next six months, 15 new projects will bring even more on-street recycling banks and community collection points to another 1.9 million households.
That means more ways to recycle your old tech, gadgets and appliances instead of letting them go to waste.

There are over 30,000 electrical recycling points across the UK, so yours could be closer than you think. Find your nearest using the link in our bio.

But you can be part of the solution by recycling your cables and other electricals this International E-Waste Day 🔌➰⚡

Join our annual Great Cable Challenge to tackle those unknown cables you’ve been stashing away ‘just in case’ - and get that drawer of doom under control for good!

Not a repair but a useful recycle idea.

17/08/2026

Repurposing something is a very good idea if it has lost its original use.

Even if it doesn't have sentimental value, please think twice before putting it into landfill.

Here are just three suggestions:

1. Towels can be donated to charities like the Wildlife Trust.
2 Duvet covers, sheets, curtains etc can be used as dust sheets for decorating or cut into smaller sections for dusters or cleaning cloths.
3. Carpets are useful for covering compost bins on allotments or in gardens.

Sometimes things are beyond repair, no matter what tricks our repairers use. But even then, they still try to help you out. Repairer Annelies Bolijn remembers a woman who was very attached to her worn-out duvet. "I advised her to make a small bag from the fabric to hold, for example, potpourri. She liked that idea." https://bit.ly/4onQlmr
