Last night brought together 28 members of our KOTS Vets family for a little friendly under the lights at Charlton Athletic. ⚽️💚
And nights like this are exactly why we do what we do.
Football isn’t just about the score, the result or how many goals you can stick in the back of the net. It’s about getting people together, giving them a reason to get out of the house, keeping active, having a laugh and, most importantly, looking after each other.
For some of our older players, getting game time can become harder as the years go by. So this was a brilliant opportunity to get everyone out there, play at their own pace, enjoy themselves and remind them that there is still a place for them on the pitch and within this family.
And what a game it was!
Both teams were incredibly evenly matched, with goals flying in at both ends. It was one of those games where you genuinely felt it could have gone either way and, on another night, could quite easily have ended in a draw.
Instead, the game finished 4–3 to the Yellows after a late penalty awarded following an absolutely outstanding gold-medal-worthy dive… one even Tom Daley might have been proud of! 😂🤿
But honestly, the score didn't matter.
What mattered was 28 people coming together, enjoying football, having a laugh, talking, checking in with each other and spending a couple of hours with people who understand that sometimes just getting through the door is the hardest part.
That’s what KOTS is about.
Football is the excuse. The family, the friendships and looking after each other are what really matter. 💚
