This week’s sign is cloud, a lovely word for talking about the weather, the sky, and nature.

To sign cloud:

1. Hold both hands in front of you with fingers relaxed and slightly curved.

2. Move your hands gently across the air in a soft, floating motion, like clouds drifting across the sky.

During last half term, students had been exploring all things mini-beasts and habitats, with lots of fun, creativity and sensory learning across the school.

In Lower School, pupils investigated crickets and locusts, enjoyed mini-beast songs, made masks and hairbands, and even created edible spiders from crackers!

The celebrations finished with the Ugly Bug Ball in the hall, where students showed off their fantastic bug-themed creations. They also enjoyed some delicious British strawberries kindly donated by Goodall's Farm.

Upper School students came together for a habitat-themed morning, taking part in activities based on the desert, rainforest and ocean. Through sensory stories, craft and exploration, pupils learned about animals and the environments they live in.

A highlight for everyone was a lively music session exploring sounds and rhythms linked to different habitats.

A fantastic week of hands-on learning, and with the warmer weather arriving, we’re hoping to spot some mini-beasts outdoors too! ☀️🐜

🚂✨ Drum Class – All Aboard for Transport! ✨🚂

Drum Class at Icknield School have been enjoying their exciting topic this half term - Transport! Their story focus, The Train Ride, has brought lots of fun sensory exploration, with pupils especially enjoying the toy animals and seaside sand linked to the story.

There has also been plenty of imaginative play with a cardboard box vehicle transforming into police cars and fire engines!

PE sessions have focused on developing ball skills, with pupils practising throwing, kicking, rolling and catching. There have been some fantastic goals scored and brilliant progress shown in coordination and confidence.

Music continues to be a class favourite, with pupils enjoying songs, actions, rhythm activities and taking turns to play the famous mirror guitar and Bamboo Tamboos during Hampshire Music sessions.
