Recently, 12 of our cadets attended Easter Camp across all 3 streams, gaining valuable skills and experiences throughout the week. Here’s what a few of our NCOs had to say:

“Easter Camp was a great experience, especially in the military skills stream. The L98 training and live firing on the range were particularly rewarding. The highlight for me was the fieldcraft exercise, where we took part in blank firing and observed a silver-level demonstration. It’s definitely made me want to progress further in fieldcraft.”

“The music stream was really enjoyable and suitable for everyone, whether you had experience or not. We spent the week developing our skills on an instrument and finished with a musical parade. It’s a great opportunity for anyone working towards their bronze badge or who simply enjoys music.”

“The ASTRA stream was both informative and challenging, especially the silver radio element. The final two-day exercise brought everything together and allowed us to apply what we’d learned as a team. I’m looking forward to completing the next stage.”

Well done to all our cadets for their effort and commitment throughout the camp

FS Cooper and Sgt Palmer spent a week at Yardley Chase in February completing their Gold Instructor First Aid course.
They began by revisiting activity first aid, refreshing their knowledge and practical skills to meet the required standard. During this time, they also taught sections of the syllabus to other Gold cadets, receiving valuable staff feedback to develop their instructional ability.
They then delivered a Youth First Aid course to local cadets, working in small syndicates and being assessed throughout.
On the final day, they heard from former cadets now working as paramedics, gaining insight into their careers.
The course concluded with a visit from the Regional Commandant, who gave an inspiring talk before presenting all candidates with their awards.

International Women's Day!
On 8 March, three cadets attended an International Women's Day event at the Royal College of Defence Studies. Cadets heard from a range of inspiring women, including a fighter jet pilot, senior military officers, and professionals working in defence. All three cadets thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the experience.
Hosted by Beds & Cambs staff and staff cadets, including CWO Cahill.
