Summer solstice this Saturday on the Common . 6.30 pm

Leti of Lime Tree Yoga will be kickstarting the evening with a gentle series of sun salutations on the Common, saying goodbye to what no longer serves us and focusing on transition and renewal. No mats necessary and barefoot so you feel the earth also recommended. This will be 20 minutes max and all are welcome!

What would Winchmore Hill be without The Plough?

For nearly 200 years, The Plough has been part of the story of our village.

It has been the backdrop to celebrations, family meals, Sunday lunches, chance encounters with neighbours, and countless memories shared between friends. It is one of those places that has always been there. A familiar sight that helps make Winchmore Hill feel like home.

Now its future as a pub is under threat.

A planning application has been submitted to change The Plough from a public house into residential use. If approved, the village could lose a place that has been at the heart of local life since the 1830s.

This is not just about a building. It is about preserving a place where people come together. A place where stories have been shared, friendships formed, milestones celebrated and memories made. A place that has served generations before us and, many believe, could serve generations to come.

If The Plough has ever been part of your life, whether you enjoyed a drink there, celebrated a special occasion, met friends, worked there, or simply value seeing it at the heart of the village, please consider submitting an individual objection.

Every voice matters. Every story matters. Every objection matters.

Time is running out. The deadline for comments is by this Wednesday, 17th June. If you want your voice to be heard, please submit your objection before then.

Please share this post and encourage others who care about The Plough to make their views known.

Once a village loses a piece of its heart, it is very difficult to get it back ❤️

A planning application has been submitted by the owners of the Plough, the Wellington Pub Company, for change of use from public house to residential. Objections and any supporting evidence need to be submitted by this Wednesday, June 17th. At this point there are objections from Penn Parish Council and Councillor Mike West, both citing the prominence of the Plough as a village landmark and the lacklustre marketing campaign - the RA will also be submitting a similar objection on this basis. The application has also been 'called in', which means it will go before committee and our councillors have the opportunity to underline their objections. We've asked a local architect to look at the plans and we strongly suspect that once change of use is granted, more extensive redevelopment plans will be submitted as although it's listed. If we want to keep the Plough building intact and see it thrive as a business again, now is the time for action. It is important that any objections are from individuals rather than groups. We're working on a sample letter that can form the basis of your objection should you need it - this will follow and should be individualised for greater weight. We are also aware there have been parties interested in leasing or purchasing the property who have received no response to their enquiries and we now need to document these cases and inform Bucks CC asap.

Saddle up! There's a new coffee house galloping its way to us: Lucky Horse Brew, a mobile barista available for events near and far, makes its maiden voyage to the Common for an 8am start tomorrow. You can grab any of the usual barista coffees (including iced!), teas, cold juices and matcha. Coffees are served with a mini stroop waffle but you'll also find butter and salted caramel flapjacks as well as gluten-free Sin bars. Do come and say hello to Gaye and Lauren and wish them luck with this new venture. https://www.instagram.com/theluckyhorsebrew/

Hi everyone, due to the heat wave and the amount of uphill walking involved, Lindsay and I have decided it's prudent to cancel the village walk. It wouldn’t be safe or comfortable in these conditions. We can look at rearranging it for a cooler day instead.
