It’s ! 🧡

This year’s theme is ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities’ – communities where people feel welcomed, included, supported and understood.

Here at Cardiomyopathy UK, we know that cardiomyopathy affects more than just the people living with the condition – it affects family members, friends and partners too. That’s why all of our services are designed for the whole cardiomyopathy community – including carers.

If you’re supporting someone with cardiomyopathy, we want you to know that you’re part of our community too – and we’re here for you if you need us.

🤝 Our support groups welcome loved ones as well as people living with cardiomyopathy https://bit.ly/4uYOdUO

☎️ Our Heart to Heart peer support service can connect you with someone who understands what it’s like to care for someone living with cardiomyopathy https://bit.ly/3Q4Jtht

📚️ We have information and advice tailed especially for those in a caring role https://bit.ly/43kLeKt

This week, we want to say thank you to the carers in our community, and to acknowledge the hugely important role they play in helping people live well with cardiomyopathy every day. The support, encouragement and practical help you provide makes such a difference.

We're excited to announce that, in addition to our existing Catalyst Grant funding, we've partnered with the Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy Trust (ACT) to offer funding for research specifically into arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM)! ❤️

ACT was set up to support research projects into the diagnosis and treatment of this condition, and we're delighted to have them on board.

Our Catalyst Grants are intended for researchers to test new ideas, develop proof-of-concept studies or gather data that could help them attract further investment from other sources. They help move us towards a future where everyone with cardiomyopathy lives a long and fulfilling life.

This Sunday, 15 incredible supporters take on the world’s fastest zip line at Penrhyn Quarry in North Wales.

Organised by superstar fundraiser Sarah, they expect to raise £3,500 - adding to the amazing £105,000 already raised for Cardiomyopathy UK by Martys Penny Bank! ⭐️

The Marty’s Penny Bank team from West Yorkshire are no strangers to fundraising challenges, having spent the past 15 years supporting Cardiomyopathy UK in extraordinary ways. Marty was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy before he was even born. Now, at almost 16 years old, he's doing incredibly well - and preparing to take to the skies himself at Penrhyn Quarry.

Sarah says: "The sun has promised to shine, and we can't wait to once again raise funds and awareness for a charity that's so close to our hearts."

Marty says: "I'm looking forward to taking on the world’s fastest zip line for Cardiomyopathy UK and I’m so pleased that we've raised over £100,000.”

A massive thank you to the Marty's Penny Bank team! We couldn't be prouder! ❤️

As comes to a close, we’d like to invite you to take a small step with us 💚

People affected by cardiomyopathy aren’t always aware of the support that’s available to them. Could you help us spread the word?

That might be mentioning Cardiomyopathy UK to a healthcare professional, sharing your experience in a conversation, or highlighting the support on offer in online groups or forums.

By doing this, you can help more people find support, feel less alone, and access the services and community that can make a real difference to mental health.

Together, we can help make sure no one has to navigate cardiomyopathy on their own.
