Not all heart disease is preventable. Cardiomyopathy – a disease of the heart muscle – affects 1 in 250 people in the UK, and it often runs in families. Sometimes, people don't even know they have it.

Spotting any signs and symptoms is important – but so is what happens next.

This , we're sharing our 'Living with cardiomyopathy' report, which looks at the state of cardiomyopathy care in the UK. Based on the findings of our MyInsight survey, which received over 1,300 responses from people affected by the condition, it reveals significant gaps across the care pathway.

We're not alone in seeing this. Cardiomyopathy is one of the causes of heart failure, and new research from The Alliance for Heart Failure shows stark variation in heart failure care across England – including access to specialist nurses, which falls as low as 34% in some areas.

While the government's new plan for cardiovascular disease includes positive steps (such as expanded testing for inherited conditions), there's more to be done.

In the meantime, we're here with information, advice and support for everybody affected by cardiomyopathy – and we won't stop working towards a future in which our whole community can live a long, fulfilling life ❤️

Walk With Your Heart is THIS SATURDAY! 🥳

The event is open to everyone, so if you're local to Amersham or you're planning to be in the area, we'd love for you to join us!

You can follow either a 2km or a 5km route to raise money to support Cardiomyopathy UK. So, as well as being a great opportunity to get outdoors and meet some like-minded people, every penny raised goes towards our work to support individuals and families affected by cardiomyopathy.

The walk starts and ends just around the corner from the Cardiomyopathy UK office – parking, café and toilets available.

This , we're talking about how to ❤️

Hope was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy as a teenager. In this video, she shares how the diagnosis made her feel, and how the right support helped her find her way through it.

Since having a device fitted, she's doing well and feeling positive – and she wants other young people affected by cardiomyopathy to know it's OK to talk about how you're feeling.

In our blog, we're sharing some ways young people affected by cardiomyopathy can build towards their future, from getting support to finding people who understand.
