Little Chalfont Community Library

Little Chalfont Community Library A library run by the community for the benefit of the community with very up-to-date stock. We also run popular Film Nights showing recent releases.

We are a community library staffed by unpaid volunteers and managed by a volunteer committee of 10 members. Our valuable community service has been running successfully now for over 5years. We work in the same way as a County Library and books can be returned to any other library in the Buckinghamshire County system. We pride ourselves on being a valuable resource within the community. We offer a

wide range of brand new fiction and non-fiction titles, PCs with internet access, free wi-fi, photocopying, laminating, magazines and newspapers as well as introductory internet access classes. Audio CDs and children's DVDs are also available to borrow for a small fee.

“When I started in this job I was super shy" says Molly. “I can talk to a room full of people now, and I will sing at the top of my lungs."

Sandeep and Molly, from Blackpool Libraries, told us that at first leading storytimes for children aged 0–5 felt challenging. But now, they love it.

Thanks to a collaboration between Better Start Blackpool and BookTrust, the library assistants received specialist support, training and mentorship to boost their skills and confidence.

The Bounce and Rhyme sessions they lead have such a positive effect on the community, too.

“We’ve had mums approach us who are feeling isolated, or who are suffering from post-natal depression. If feels like we’ve become quite central to those families and the community here," says Sandeep.

We know that , which is why we're so proud to work with libraries to get children reading and help them to discover books they love❤️
