Amble Youth Project Supporting local children and young people to grow well and shine. Our activities for 8-18 year olds

Amble Youth Project has been providing a safe and supportive environment for young people of Amble for 26 years. Initially it is was set up as a Multi-Agency Crime Initiative and over the years have supported many young people of the town in various ways. At this time the project operates:

- Monday's and Wednesday's -
3:30-5:30
After School Club for 8-13 year olds;

- Thursday's - 13 years + Under review

We also operate during half term offering days out & fun sessions to keep the young people occupied & safe.

-All sessions are free with food supplied-

- Tuesday and Thursday: The project also facilitates the Job Club that provides help and support relating to finding employment, benefit and housing issues, debt problems and apprenticeship and training opportunities (for all ages). Amble Youth Project staff have relaunched our Detached youth work sessions. Bringing youth work to the young people of Amble out in Amble. The project desires to strengthen its work and meet more needs relating to our young people. We are excited to develop a more diverse program of activities and support and work in partnership with more people in our town, joining forces to support our young people as they under go their transition from young people into adulthood. 🌻 What a Weekend at the Puffin Festival! 🌻
Wow — what a gorgeous weekend for the Puffin Festival, and for the Bank Holiday as a whole. Amble Youth Project were proud to join the festival on Saturday, where we launched our sunflower‑growing competition, added a splash of colour with face painting, showcased our activities (including our fabulous allotment project), and unveiled our Row the Coquet Challenge as part of celebrating AYP’s 30th Anniversary.

Row the Coquet is a simple but powerful way to show what we achieve when we work together. AYP has reached 30 years because so many people, over so many years, have pulled together and supported our work.
Our goal: row 90km — the approximate length of the River Coquet — on a rowing machine, one pull at a time.
And what a start!
11 amazing people helped launch Row the Coquet at the Puffin Festival, rowing a fantastic 11.8km between them.

A huge thank you to Lindsay, James, Jacqui, Peter, Rob, Claire, Tom, Craig, Jamie, Duncan, and Brad — you were brilliant.

Look out for next time the rowing machine is out - maybe you too can add to the kilometres!

We’re also incredibly grateful for the £75.75 donated on the day. Every penny helps us continue our work with young people.

A special thank you to Sarah, Dave, and Karen, (and Ian behind the scenes), who gave up their Bank Holiday to help run the stand — your support means the world.

And another huge thank you to Jess, who ran the baby/toddler/toy sale in the afternoon and provided a fabulous array of cakes. Thank you to Jess, Joan, Neil and Jean for managing the event when we were all in the Town Square, and the contributors of items! An outstanding £68.80 was raised for AYP from this as well.

Finally, thank you to you as a community, who popped along to the clothes and cake sale, had their face painted, entered the sunflower competition, rowed part of the Coquet, popped some donations in the pot, or simply came to say hello. — to our staff who came along too - you all helped make it a wonderful day.

AYP is 30 years strong because of people like you.
Here’s to the next 30.

🎉 Amble Youth Project is turning 30! 🎉
This year at the Puffin Festival, we’re kicking off our 30th anniversary celebrations — and we’d love YOU to be part of it!
💙 Helping us keep going… we are rowing! 💙
Come along and help us “Row the Coquet” as a community!
Our challenge is to row 56 miles (90km) — the approximate length of the River Coquet, from the Cheviot Hills all the way to the North Sea at Amble — using a rowing machine!
🚣 Can you help?
Whether you can row for 2 minutes, 10 minutes, or a mile or two, every stroke counts and every bit helps.
For 30 years, Amble Youth Project has been supported by our amazing community and national funders through time, donations, and encouragement. That support is still vital today — and for the future — so we can continue helping our children and young people to “GROW WELL & SHINE.”
✨ Come and say hello ✨ Find out how you can support us ✨ And of course… row with us! Donations are greatly appreciated
